Dear Prospective Applicant,

Allow me to invite you to become involved with an experience that will prove to be life changing and full of memories, an experience that will allow your passion for dance to develop while enhancing your leadership skills and providing enriching friendships.  If you love challenges and are goal oriented we encourage you to audition for the 2001-2002 Louisville All-Star Dancers.  We are a select group of competitive individuals who come together as a team in the pursuit of continued dance training.

Auditions are open to those that will be entering the sixth through the twelfth grade for the 2001-2002 school year.  Since becoming nationally ranked by the Universal Dance Association in our first season (1996-1997) and currently holding the national third place UDA ranking and the consecutive titles of Jamfest 2000 and 2001 National Dance Grand Champions, a tradition of excellence has been created.  Being a member of this team requires hard work, discipline, dedication, a cooperative attitude, and a competitive spirit.  If you feel you qualify in these areas, we strongly encourage you to audition.  The rewards are very satisfying.

The Louisville All-Stars will be attending the Universal Dance Association's Summer Camp held at the University of Kentucky, July 16th through the 19th.  Our attendance here serves as the stepping stone to the National Dance Team Championships conducted in Orlando, Florida in February of 2002.  Please be aware that this trip will require each dancer to miss three days of school.

If you are named a Louisville All-Star, your commitment for the season spans the fourth week of May through February.   We are a competitive squad that sets high goals and will focus on the achievements we desire.  During the summer months, the team will be committed to three to four sessions weekly.  The coaching staff will excuse absences due to family vacations at any time in the summer with the exception of June 25th through July 19th.  It is important to make these summer dates absolutely mandatory to ensure proper preparation for our summer competitive routine and complete team attendance at camp.  In the school months, one can expect three weekly requirements.  All rehearsal, technique, and conditioning sessions will occur in the Westport Rd., Hwy. 42 (Goshen), and Clifton area.  We encourage all of our dancers to be actively involved in a variety of activities.  However, if LAS can not be one of your top priorities, you should reconsider auditioning.

Please read the remaining parts of this packet carefully.  Upon acceptance to the All-Stars, each dancer and parent will receive their personal copy of the LAS Policy Manual.  This information will further discuss all aspects, rules, and regulations of our team.  If you have any questions regarding auditions or the organization of LAS, please do not hesitate to contact the coaching staff at 502-819-6775.  Becoming a Louisville All-Star is a distinguished honor.  We are looking forward to seeing you at auditions on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at noon!

Good Luck,

LAS Coaching Staff
