The Louisville All-Star Dancers were first developed in
1996 as an organization to blend competitive dancing with technical training.
In 1998, the team was organized under a new coaching staff, Lauren Donaldson,
Alison Lepper, and Emily Peak. Since then, the team has continued to develop
each year under the coaching staff of various skilled dancers such as Theresa
Bautista, Jackie Jerdan and Elissa Peak. The team is currently coached
by Emily Peak, Ali Reichel, and Elissa Peak.
In 1999, the Louisville All-Stars were blessed with the
support of Powerhouse Gym, located off of Westport Road, owned by Jeff
Ruwe. It is through this sponsorship that LAS continues to exist
as an organization that provides top level training at considerably low
financial obligations.
Through the years, the team has evolved in order to meet
the goals it sets. The team focuses on ballet technique, jazz technique,
endurance training, strength building, performance dance, and competitive
dance.
The thread that runs through each team of all-stars is
the thread of unity and teamwork among the dancers. The team is successful
each season because of the way in which the team and the coaching staff
work together towards the ultimate opportunities.
The Louisville All-Star Dancers compete on a regional
and national level. LAS also performs at many community events.
Throughout the years, the all-stars have been showcased at the KY State
Fair, the Kentuckiana Girl Scouts' Festival of the Arts, the Riverbats
baseball games, WHAS 11 morning show news program, and various theme parks.
The all-stars have also done guest performances at various elementary and
middle schools as well as area universities.
