Martin Bledsaw
Martin Bledsoe married Sarah Jane Owens
in 1879 in Lawrence Co., Indiana. The name on their marriage license was spelled Bledsaw.
They moved to southern Illinois, and had 5 boys,one died at birth.
Lewis Bledsaw was born first in 1883.
Then James Allen in 1886,William, and his twin Edward was born in 1887.
Edward died at birth.Then came Thomas in 1889.
Martin on his way back from town with some friends
one night fell off his horse, and layed in a snow bank in a storm
until the others noticed him missing. They went back for him and brought him home.
He died a couple of days later of pneumonia.Before dying,He had the preacher and
someone else take him down to the creek to baptise him.
They had to cut a hole in the ice to get the water to perform the baptism.
He died in 1889. Martin was born in Martin Co., Indiana in 1857.
Son of Isaac Bledsoe and Mary Franklin.
