Week Six in Review - September 29, 2003

Trinity  17   St. Xavier   6
QB Brian Brohm completed 20 of 34 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns before 35,800 fans to lead Trinity to their first victory of the season.  The Shamrock defense held the highly touted St. Xavier ground game to only 102 yards. 
 
Danville 26    Highlands 25  
Danville's Ronnie Hawkins returned a punt 82 yards for the game-winning touchdown with 1:35 remaining on the clock.  Highlands led 25-13 late in the fourth quarter before Danville staged a furious comeback.  Danville was led on the ground by Kelvin Turner and Charles Penix with 134 and 126 yards respectively.  Jordan Nevels led Highlands on the ground with 115 yards on 25 carries.  QB Brad Bardo completed 11 of 15 passes for 272 yards and two touchdown passes.  Mitch McMahon caught five passes for 189 yards and a score.

Henry Clay held a 371-23 advantage in total offense to win their third consecutive game after starting the season 0-3.

Paul Dunbar 17    Tates Creek  7  
RB Bobby Vyverberg hit Eric Jackson with a 74 yard TD pass to spark the Bulldogs to a victory tonight.

Lafayette 35    Woodford County  3  
Lafayette scored 35 unanswered points to erase a 3-0 first quarter deficit at Woodford County. 
 
East Jessamine   37   Western Hills   9
The Jaguars rolled up 515 yards on offense to improve their record to 5-0.  Wes Coleman ran for 121 yards and added 108 receiving yards.  QB Patrick Hunt passed for 230 yards and two touchdowns. 
 
West Jessamine   51   Bourbon County   30
So. RB Eli Darby set a school rushing record with 326 yards on 29 carries.  So. linebacker Franklin Baker recovered three fumbles to spark the defense.  Bourbon County's Robert Christopher scored on runs of 34, 2, 22, and 17 yards. 
 
Raceland  48    Berea   20
Raceland's Aaron Pettrey kicked the longest field goal in history--58 yards--to break the existing record of 57 yards set by Dustin Wynn of Middlesboro in 1998.  Pettrey also passed for four touchdowns. 
 
Boone County   42   Simon Kenton   7
Boone County's Miles Davis was a one-man wrecking crew tonight as he ran for 270 yards and five touchdowns on 37 carries. 
 
Knott County Central 58    Allen Central  16
Jason Sparkman carried the ball 18 times for 365 yards and scored on runs of 37, 13, 48, 15, and 80 yards.  Sparkman also scored on a 45 yard punt return. 
 
Madison Central 21    Whitley County  6
Madison Central improved to 5-1 as Steven Stunson and Thomas Estill led the ground game with 133 and 119 yards respectively. 
 
Campbellsville  55   Evangel   8
Ian Hoskins scored four touchdowns tonight to run his state-leading total to 18 in only five games. 
 
Williamsburg   49   Evarts   26
QB Andy Greer put up huge numbers for Williamsburg with 25 of 39 pass completions for 395 yards and seven touchdowns. 
 
Lexington Catholic 33    Harrison County  20
Catholic rushed for 181 yards on 34 carries and got two touchdowns from John Damron in a road victory. 
 
Harrodsburg   22   Grant County   3
Mark Dunn scored on runs of 58, 53, and 39 yards as Harrodsburg improves to 5-0. 
 
Pendleton County  7   Henry County   0
Pendleton County recorded their first shutout in school history. 
 
Clark County   49   Montgomery County   7
QB Todd Sharrock ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead the Cardinals to victory.
