Scott County (2-0) vs. Lexington Catholic (0-1)

Scott County has claimed victories over Woodward (OH) and Boone County.  Coach Jim McKee's Cardinals have utilized a strong game led by Sr. FB Keith Smith with 183 yards and five touchdowns.  Jr. HB Logan Travis has gained 141 yards and one TD.  Sr. QB Cody Andrews has completed seven of 10 passes for 117 yards and three TDs. 

Coach Bill Letton's Lexington Catholic Knights got hammered in their season opener 47-0 by Louisville power St. Xavier.  QB Tyler Hancock completed 25 of 36 passes for 257 yards and Wes Caldwell caught 10 passes for 126 yards.

Lexington Catholic defeated Scott County's 43-36 in a game in which spectacular plays were the norm instead of the exception.  However, Lexington Catholic's defense tightened in the final quarter, holding the Cardinals to only 37 yards of offense in the final period.  The Knights took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter but Scott County rallied to lead 28-21 at halftime.  Lexington Catholic outscored the Cardinals 15-0 in the third quarter to take a 36-28 lead.  The Cardinals refused to fold and tied the score at 36 on a 28 yard pass from Cody Andrews to Keith Smith and a two point conversion.  The Knights scored what proved to be the winning TD on a 15 yard pass from Tyler Hancock to Ben Revere with 7:18 remaining on the clock.  Scott County had two more possessions but could not reach the end zone.

Lexington Catholic had 16 first downs and 405 yards of total offense.  The Knights had one pass intercepted and were penalized 14 times for 104 yards.  Scott County recorded 12 first downs and 260 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals lost two fumbles, had two passes intercepted, and were penalized eight times for 64 yards.  Both teams were automatic in the red-zone as Scott County was three for three and Lexington Catholic was four for four.

Shane Israel led the Lexington Catholic ground game with 109 yards and a TD on 10 carries.  Tyler Hancock completed 19 of 24 passes for 278 yards with three TDs and one interception.  Winston Guy caught six passes for 115 yards and two TDs.  Wes Caldwell added five receptions for 92 yards.  Ben Revere had three receptions for 30 yards and a TD.  Revere also scored on a 99 yard kickoff return.  Jacob Locknane led the Knight defense with six solo and one assisted tackles.  Ben Revere added six solo tackles and intercepted two passes  Winston Guy recorded five solo and one assisted tackles. 

Keith Smith led the Scott County ground game with 104 yards and two TDs on 14 carries.  Cody Andrews completed four of six passes for 115 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.  Jimmie Warren caught two passes for 54 yards.  Malcolm Clay returned seven kickoffs for 172 yards.  Brandon Lawson led the Cardinal defense with 10 solo and three assisted tackles.
