Scott County (7-3) vs. Henry Clay (9-1) November 3, 2006

Coach Jim McKee's Scott County Cardinals loom as a dangerous opening round opponent for Henry Clay.  Scott County could possibly be undefeated if not for turnovers.  The Scott County offense has been led by Keith Smith, who has carried the ball 152 times for 996 yards with 16 TDs.  Cody Andrews has completed 31 of 60 passes for 556 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.  The Cardinals lost to Henry Clay 43-42 in September.

Coach Sam Simpson's Henry Clay offense has been triggered by QB Ryan Phillippi, who has completed 145 of 210 passes for 2000 yards with 24 touchdowns and four interceptions.  Clark Jeter has 56 receptions for 899 yards and 15 TDs.  Chase Minnifield has caught 37 passes for 509 yards and seven TDs.  Aaron Boyd has also caught 37 passes for 453 yards and two TDs.  Dontey Gay leads the ground game with 716 yards and six touchdowns on 120 carries. 

Henry Clay took a page out of Scott County's book tonight as the Blue Devils gained 313 yards on the ground in a 49-7 victory over Scott County.  Henry Clay was equally adept through the air as a trio of quarterbacks passed for 203 yards and five touchdowns.

Henry Clay recorded 26 first downs and 516 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils had eight penalties for 161 yards.  Scott County had 14 first downs and 235 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals lost two fumbles and were penalized five times for 41 yards. 

Chase Minnifield led Henry Clay's ground game with 130 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.  Dontey Gay added 121 yards on 15 carries.  Tyler Hooker recorded 65 yards on three carries.  Ryan Phillippi completed 11 of 13 passes for 162 yards and four touchdowns.  Clark Jeter caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.  Stephon Burton led the Blue Devil defense with five solo and 10 assisted tackles.  Grant Devinney added three solo and six assisted tackles. 

The Scott County ground game was led by Keith Smith with 47 yards on 13 carries.  Anthony Sandoval added 46 yards on nine carries.  Cody Andrews completed five of 13 passes for 85 yards.  Keith Smith and Jimmie Warren each had two receptions for 36 and 32 yards respectively.  Jimmie Warren led the defense with five solo and six assisted tackles.  Brandon Lawson added six solo and two assisted tackles.
