Boyle County (1-0) vs. Henry Clay (0-1)

Coach Larry French's Boyle County Rebels got off to a fast start last week, defeating Warren Central 49-13.  6-2 190 pound Sr. QB Phillip Mason passed for 206 yards and two touchdowns.  5-9 170 pound Jr. RB Rees MacShara led the ground attack with 106 yards and three touchdowns.  6-5 210 pound Jordan Aumiller is expected to be a force on both sides of the ball.

Coach Sam Simpson's Henry Clay Blue Devils were plagued by penalties last week as they lost to Bowling Green 27-12.  6-2 170 pound Sr. QB Cole Mielcarek completed 22 of 34 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.  6-4 190 pound Sr. WR Jason Rider caught 10 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown.  5-6 172 pound Sr. RB Tyler Hooker missed last week with an injury but is expected to return tonight.  6-5 280 pound Sr. Center Samuel Simpson anchors the offensive line and the defense should be led by 6-3 210 pound Sr. LB Mike Federspiel.

Boyle County's defense dominated on a rainy Friday night, holding Henry Clay to 116 yards of total offense in a 31-7 victory.  Henry Clay got on the scoreboard first on a 37 yard run by Tyler Hooker and a conversion kick by Bruce Price.  Boyle County capitalized on Henry Clay mistakes and a good offensive line to score 31 unanswered points.

Boyle County recorded 13 first downs and 341 yards of total offense.  The The Rebels averaged 7.7 yards per carry on 36 rushing attempts.  Boyle County was penalized six times for 56 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Henry Clay recorded eight first downs and 116 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized five times for 55 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Rees MacShara led Boyle County's ground game with 162 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.  Phillip Mason carried the ball 12 times for 86 yards and a touchdown.  Mason completed eight of 17 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Ron Crutchfield caught three passes for 21 yards.  Brett Marshall added two receptions for 24 yards.  6-2 230 pound So. LB Lamar Dawson led the defense with six solo and four assisted tackles.  Jordan Walker added five solo and three assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles accounting for losses totalling 17 yards.

Tyler Hooker led the Henry Clay ground game with 59 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Shannon Coofer carried the ball six times for 36 yards.  Cole Mielcarek completed eight of 14 passes for 41 yards with two interceptions.  Branden Johnson caught four passes for 21 yards.  Ryan McCray led the defense with five solo and five assisted tackles.  Weston Johnson added six solo and one assisted tackles.
