Boyle County (4-0) vs. Lexington Catholic (2-2)

Boyle County combined a rock-solid defense against the run (allowed 28 yards on 23 carries) and some costly penalties against Lexington Catholic to eke out a 14-11 victory.  Two Lexington Catholic touchdowns were nullified by penalties which greatly frustrated and angered the Lexington Catholic coaching staff.  Kevin Ebbit intercepted a pass late in the first half and returned it 55 yards for an apparent touchdown.  However, the TD was called back and the Knights were flagged for a personal foul against the Boyle County quarterback.  The penalty woes continued on the second half kickoff as Ryne Least's 99 yard return was nullified by a block in the back call.

Boyle County took a 14-3 lead in the final quarter but Lexington Catholic scored a late TD and two point conversion to narrow the score to 14-11.  Lexington Catholic attempted an on-side kick but Boyle County recovered and was able to run out the clock.  This was the first district loss for Lexington Catholic since 2000.

Boyle County recorded 12 first downs and 215 yards of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized 11 times for 70 yards.  Lexington Catholic recorded nine first downs and 188 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized nine times for 92 yards and had one pass intercepted.
