Coach Brian Weirich’s Highlands squad trailed 42-21 at halftime but rallied in the second half to defeat Coach Joe Prince’s Owensboro team by a score of 49-42.  Owensboro suffered three interceptions in the final quarter.  Highlands recorded 30 first downs and 455 yards of total offense.  The Bluebirds were penalized four times for 56 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.  Owensboro recorded 25 first downs and 413 yards of total offense.  The Red Devils were penalized nine times for 70 yards and had three passes intercepted.

Griffin Urlage led Highlands’ ground game with 157 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.  Beau Hoge carried the ball 18 times for 78 yards and three touchdowns.  Beau Hoge completed 15 of 26 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Alex Veneman caught eight passes for 66 yards.  Mitchell Cain added two receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.  Chandler New recorded two receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.  Rocco Pangallo led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles.  Jacob Noe added eight solo and one assisted tackles.  DJ Mills recorded six solo and two assisted tackles.  Austin Beal scored on a 70 yard interception return.

Anthony James led Owensboro’s ground game with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.  Nick Locher carried the ball 11 times for 78 yards and a touchdown.  Nick Locher completed 12 of 21 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.  Rodney Collier caught eight passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns.  Jahlil Barrett added two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown.  Gekove Gardner led the defense with eight solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Tavian Board added six solo and four assisted tackles.  Kishawn Walker and Quadri Tinsley each recorded five solo and three assisted tackles.
