Boone County (3-3) vs. Henry Clay (6-0)  October 8, 1999

Tonight's match-up pits the (3-3) Boone County Rebels against the No. 2 rated (6-0) Henry Clay Blue Devils.  Henry Clay will be led by QB Shane Boyd who will welcome back his favorite receiver Zia Combs, who has been out with an injury.  Boone County will counter with junior tailback Timmy King who has rushed for 570 yards the last two games.

The stars really came out to play in this game.  Shane Boyd, the homecoming king, also found time to lead the Blue Devils to a 56-28 win.  He carried the ball eight times for 130 yards and two scores and passed for 192 yards and two touchdowns.  Zia Combs returned to action with a 43 yard touchdown reception.  Boone County Coach Rick Thompson fired his lethal weapon Timmy King into the Henry Clay line 46 times.  King totaled 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Henry Clay pulled away from a 7-7 tie with three touchdowns to make the score 28-7 and was never threatened after that point.  Coach Sam Simpson has Henry Clay peaking at the right time and could make a lot of noise in the play-offs.  Henry Clay's defense is underrated and Raymon Smith is a tough inside runner who scored three touchdowns tonight.

Boone County struggled to the finish line with a 3-8 record last year, but Coach Rick Thompson has a relatively young team playing the traditional smash-mouth Boone County football.  This team could be heard from in the future.  Timmy King is a real horse who powers into the line and then moves the "pile" for yardage, looking for a hole to squirt through toward the endzone.
