The Thunderbirds band guitarist (famous to Singapore baby boomers) brought in a sickly hamster saying that his swollen chin needed to be cut to drain the pus oozing from the lower mouth. CLICK thumbnail to see bigger image. The hamster had no appetite for a few days, was dehydrated and smelt of urine indicating he was too ill to groom himself. Both eyes were glued by pus. Would anaesthetic kill this little one? No need to incise his chin. The upper incisor teeth had overgrown into the floor of the mouth making a big hole into the chin area. Holding the hamster firmly, the teeth were clipped off. A dextrose saline and antibiotic injection and eyedrops were given. The hamster was active and eating within 2 seconds.
