Aller & Venir

are IRREGULAR VERBS; that is, they don't
follow a particular pattern.

Aller - to go

MODELE: Ils vont au parc samedi. -They are going to the park Saturday.
MODELE: Nous allons faire une promenade à velo. -We are going to go for a bike ride.
MODELE: Je vais inviter Celine. -I am going to invite Celine.

  • Aller + Infinitif: Practice with the Near Future

    Venir - to come

    • je viens - I come, I'm coming
    • tu viens - you come, you're coming
    • elle vient - he comes, he's coming
    • nous venons -we come, we're coming
    • vous venez -you(y'all) come, you're coming
    • elles viennent -they come, they're coming

    The verbs revenir (to come back) and devenir (to become) are conjugated like venir.

    MODELE: Je viens de Baton Rouge. -I come from Baton Rouge.

    MODELE: D'où viens -tu? -Where do you come from?

    MODELE: Nous venons du centre commercial. -We are coming from the mall.

    MODELE: Nous revenons de la boum à minuit. -We are coming back from the party at midnight.

    MODELE: Je viens de parler au prof. -I just spoke to the teacher.
