Be My Lord

"Be My Lord" was the result of a realization I had a few years ago that Lord and Savior are not the same thing; after hearing the two terms together for a long time, I made no distinction between them. When we accept Jesus to be our Savior we entrust Him with our salvation, but when we deem Him our Lord, we become His servants. It is easy to want Jesus to just be our ticket into life with God without any sacrifice on our parts, but it is necessary to also become servants to God at the same time in order to make our relationship complete.

Verse 1
It's been a long, long time since I've really talked to You.
Thanks for meeting me here right now, I've got some things to sort through.

Chorus
You became my Savior long ago.
Now come transform my life and be my Lord.

Verse 2
I know I've been living my life with so many things above You,
And I accepted Your sacrifice, but that's not all it takes.

Bridge
Take my heart; make it Your own,
And break it down with the things that break Your own.
