Electrophorus Electricus

When Chris and I left camp, we each went out with the intentions to do more writing during the summer. I only ended up with two more songs; this is the first of the two from the word "current." I wanted to write a song in the style of They Might Be Giants, so I took out an encyclopedia at my girlfriend's house and looked up interesting facts about the electric eel (Electrophorus Electricus) and South America.

Verse 1
Electrophorus Electricus; I would like to sing you a song.
You¡¯re commonly called the electric eel, but you are not an eel at all.
(An eel at all.)

Verse 2
You come from South America, the fourth largest continent on earth.
You sometimes grow to 9-feet long and have a man¡¯s thigh in girth.

Chorus
Oh, Electrophorus Electricus; you are a beautiful glowing fish.
Oh, Electrophorus Electricus; to have one of you would be my wish.

Verse 3
You swim in freshwater and shock your prey to dine on them;
2 amps of current, 500 volts, 1000 watts, and they can¡¯t swim.
(You immobilize them.)

Verse 4
Your shock could stun a man or kill a horse; it is very strong.
You swim real slow, but who really cares? You¡¯ve got nothing to do all day long.
