This Life Is Lived

This is one of the early tunes from the songwriting game. The word was "discipline." This is a pretty simple pop-punk tune admitting that life's enjoyment is dervived from focusing more on God and Hid perfection and less on myself and my inadequacy.

Verse 1
I wonder how often I miss out on life
By looking at all my faults
And allowing that to destroy all my functionality
And allowing that to destroy the progress that You’ve made.

Chorus
I’m not perfect yet, but we’ve come a long, long way.
Each day I need to delight more fully in Your grace.
Why don’t I get it; I’ve known it from the start:
This life is lived by giving You my heart.

Verse 2
What new discipline should I start
To aid You in Your plan of bringing me closer to Your image?
Sometimes this is exactly what I think,
As if my acts would make us closer friends.

Bridge
It’s so hard to judge the progress from Your eyes when we are a fallen race.
It’s so hard to judge the progress from Your eyes when they are not mine.
