December 30, 2001 - Tournament Commitments
Monica has committed to the Australian Open, the Pan Pacific Open, the Open Gaz de France and the Dubai Open in the begining of the year. Monica lost in the quarterfinals of the Australian last year. The Open Gaz de France, however, she last played in the early '90's, while the she last played the Pan Pacific Open in 1999. She has never played the Dubai Open before.
October 25, 2001 - U.S. Withdrawals from Fed Cup
The USTA announced today that they were not going to send a Fed Cup team to Spain due to security concerns. The United States is the defending champion and will be replaced by a team at a later date. It was rumored the Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, and the Williams Sisters were not going to compete in the competition. Monica was said to be confirmed for the trip.
October 24, 2001 - Monica Enters The Hopman Cup
Monica will make the trip to Perth, Australia (Dec. 30- Jan. 5) for the second straigh year, as will Jan Michael Gambill. Last year, this duo made it to the finals before losing to the Swiss. This year the United States team is seeded #1, followed by the Australia, Spain, and Belgium. Here are the following group assignments.
