Cleveland Browns (2-14)
1. Cleveland
Browns
WR Peter Warrick, Florida State
The Browns don't really have an outside threat besides Kevin Johnson and they need to get more weapons for Tim Couch. They also don't have a very good offensive line and would like to go to a short passing game. However, in order to do it they need a receiver, and what better receiver could they get than Peter Warrick. Warrick graded out as the best player to attend the combine since former star running back Bo Jackson. They also need help on the defensive line, so Courtney Brown is a possibility, but I really doubt they would pass on Warrick.

Washington Redskins (10-6)
2. Washington
Redskins
(From New Orleans)
LB LaVar Arrington, Penn State*
The Redskins need help on the defensive side of the ball, especially at the linebacker spot. They really like LaVar Arrington and he will be their pick. Many compare him to former great Lawrence Taylor.

Washington Redskins (10-6)
3. Washington
Redskins
(From San Francisco)
OT Chris Samuels, Alabama
When the Redskins traded up with the 49ers, I originally thought that the reason was to grab Penn State DE Courtney Brown. However, after the signing of Bruce Smith and the re-signing of Marco Coleman to big-money deals, it seems unlikely that the Redskins would invest more money into the defensive end position. It is no secret that they are enamored with Alabama tackle Chris Samuels and they do need a starting left tackle. Therefore it looks like Samuels will be their selection with this pick. He may not be the best player available, but he is the best fit for the Redskins.

Cincinnati Bengals (4-12)
4. Cincinnati
Bengals
DE Courtney Brown, Penn State
Where do you start with this team? They need help just about everywhere, especially on the defensive side of the ball. With defensive line being a huge weakness, they will probably select Courtney Brown. Poor Courtney Brown, any other year he probably would have been the first player taken, but in this draft he will be sentenced to the Cincinnati Bengals. There is a ray of hope for Brown, though. The Bengals might elect to trade down in order to get additional picks to draft the corners they also desperately need, but if I had to bet I would say they would keep the pick and select Brown.

Baltimore Ravens (8-8)
5. Baltimore
Ravens

(From Atlanta)
WR Plaxico Burress, Michigan State*
Brian Billick loves big, physical wide receivers, and that is exactly what Plaxico Burress is. He could be the player that turns his anemic offense around. RB Thomas Jones is also a possiblity, but with the depth at running back in this draft, and they rarity of big receivers, I think Billick will get his wide receiver here, and worry about running back with his other first round pick.

Philadelphia Eagles (5-11)
6. Philadelphia
Eagles
DT Corey Simon, Florida State
The Eagles could really use some help on the defensive line, and Corey Simon would be a major step in the right direction. The Eagles would love for Plaxico Burress to slip to them with this pick, but that isn't going to happen. Corey Simon will be their pick.

Arizona Cardinals (6-10)
7. Arizona
Cardinals

RB Thomas Jones, Virginia
The Cardinals desperately need a big-time running back to take the pressure off of QB Jake Plummer. Thomas Jones would be a huge improvement over the combination of Adrian Murrell, Mario Bates, and Michael Pittman that the Cards are currently using. Jones is also an excellent receiver, and would be a very good fit in this offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers (6-10)
8. Pittsburgh
Steelers
OT Stockar McDougle, Oklahoma
The Steelers, for some reason, are going to go with Kordell Stewart at QB next season, and after the signing of Kent Graham to a decent-sized contract, drafting a QB is probably out of the question. Look for them to try and solidify their offensive line, which is very weak at the tackle spots. Look for them to go with Stockar McDougle.

Chicago Bears (6-10)
9. Chicago
Bears
LB Brian Urlacher, New Mexico
The Bears struggled on defense once again in '99, and will be looking to improve that unit with this selection. While cornerback is probably their biggest need, it is also a very poor year for corners, and it is unlikely they would select one this early in the draft. I would look for them to improve their linebacking corps with this pick by selecting Brian Urlacher, who just wowed scouts at the combine with his outstanding size/speed combination.

Denver Broncos (6-10)
10. Denver
Broncos
TE Bubba Franks, Miami*
The Broncos probably won't be addressing their QB situation with this pick, but they could be looking for a tight end after the loss of Shannon Sharpe. Bubba Franks is an extremely talented tight end who should fit in well with the Broncos' offense.

New York Giants (7-9)
11. New York
Giants

RB Ron Dayne, Wisconsin
The Giants have finally realized that they need a running back in order to run their style of offense, and they will use this pick to shore up this area of their team. Apparently, the Giants are in love with Ron Dayne, and will take him with this pick, although I believe that Shaun Alexander will be the better pro back.

San Francisco 49ers (4-12)
12. San Franciso
49ers

(From Washington)
QB Chad Pennington, Marshall
Bill Walsh has all but said that the 49ers will be taking a quarterback in the draft. With this selection he will take Chad Pennington. Pennington seems like a good fit for the 49ers' offense. However, don't rule out another trade down with this pick.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12-4)
13. Tampa Bay
Buccaneers

(From San Diego)
OT Chris McIntosh, Wisconsin
The Buccaneers have a lot of problems on offense, and most of it stems from their offensive line. They have been addressing this area of the team in free agency, and I would expect them to continue to do so in the draft with the selection of Chris McIntosh.

Green Bay Packers (8-8)
14. Green Bay
Packers
DE Darren Howard, Kansas State
The Packers had a lot of problems on defense last year, and defensive line will be a priority for them in the draft. Look for them to select Darren Howard with this pick.

Baltimore Ravens (8-8)
15. Baltimore
Ravens

RB Shaun Alexander, Alabama
The Ravens got their wide receiver and with their first pick of the first round, and now they will get their running back with the selection of Shaun Alexander. Alexander would be a great fit for this offense.
