Serial Joe is a band from Newmarket Ont, Canada. The band consists of 4 members and their manager is Ryan Dennis' mother. They started the band around 6-7 months ago! Serial Joe was one of the eight winners in a contest held by The New VR. They won 10 hours of recording time at Barrie's Power Plant Studio along with three performance-oriented videos to be filmed by The New VR staff.
The song they entered was "Skidrow", the song is about the lack of local places for skateboarders. "Everybody has their sport but us skateboarders don't have a place to do ours, everyones always telling us to 'beat it' or 'go away' and it really sucks."
Dave Ziemba(Ryan's Guitar Teacher) was so impressed by the guys' song that he encouraged the boys' parents to get the guys to get it recorded (which of course they did).
It was Ryan's mom who heard about The New VR contest the day before it was over. She drove to Barrie and dropped off the guys' demo tape! They were all over at Ryans house talking about it and all the guys didnt think they would win. But it was worth trying. When they were selected as one of the 8 winners, "we were blown away" says Jon.
Their video "Skidrow" has been featured on Much Music's Indie Spotlight many times and they have been in the Much Environment for an interview and their debut CD is called: KICKeD
