My Favorite Fanfic.
Hoo BOY!
These are the fics that
I have read more than once and that have stuck with me to the point where
I still think about them today. They are my personal favorites and have
had a huge influence on my own work. So if you like my fic, you'll probably
like these too. Of course, they fall into my favorite genres: Angsty MSR, TortureFic, Pre-XF, and <gasp> Scully/Krycek.
I'm working on getting permission to link to or post some of the
stories, but for now you should be able to find them at Gossamer
or at the authors' own web sites, most of which are listed in the
Chronicle X personals
section. Anyway, shut up, Louise, right? Here you go (in no particular

Eleventh Hour - by Rachel Anton
My very favorite Pre-X-files story. Scully is dead and Mulder
breaks out of the loony bin and goes back in time to stop the death. Only
he goes back a little too far, meeting up with Scully when she's still in
college. Great story, great writing, and the sweetest MSR you'll ever read. |
| My Way or the Highway - by Rachel Anton
My very very favorite Scully/Krycek. Ratboy takes Scully on a
little road trip. Great angst, great smut, and of course that thing that
makes all s/k stories great, a little MSR. |
| The Sound of Windchimes - by Sarah Stegall
This is a great great story. One of the most original I've ever
read. Scully and Mulder are abducted and held (naked, of course) in the
alien space ship for a year. Oh,and Mulder rapes Scully, and Scully gives
birth. Really, I can't do this one justice by describing it. Just read it.
It's really not as yucky as I'm making it sound. |
| Desideratum Series - by Laura Blaurosen and Rachel Anton
I love any story where Moose and/or Squirrel gets tortured. I'm
not sure what that says about me, but this story has awesome ScullyTorture,
great angst, great MSR, great suspense, and great characterization. Oh,
and great sex. After six years of restraint, Scully and Mulder want each
other so bad they're both going a little insane. But as soon as they try
to do something about it, Scully gets kidnapped by Mulder's stalker cleaning
lady. |
| Abah Series - by Susan Proto
I think my very favorite type of story is the one where Mulder
gets hurt/sick/totally messed up and Scully takes care of him. This is the
ULTIMATE MulderTorture/MulderRecovery series. Mulder gets menengitis, which
leaves him nearly deaf and crippled. Scully, Maggie, and Skinner take care
of him. Mulder finds the father figure he's been missing in Skinner and
learns to live happily with his disability. Great, very human characterization
and some MSR, too. |
| I Have Known a Boy Named Fox and a Man Named Mulder - by Penny
Daza
Quite possibly my favorite story of all. I could not imagine
anything sweeter. Actually, in a lot of ways, I see my long wip "Any
Other Name" as a tribute to this story. The Conspiracy gives Mulder
a drug to make him physically and mentally regress to childhood. Scully
takes care of him while he grows back to his normal age in the span of a
few months, remembering his life and all its heartbreaks as he ages. Scully
helps him defeat his demons, and of course they fall in love (again). |
| Downtime Series - by Sheryl Martin
I also love stories where Mulder and Scully sleep together without
uhhh sleeping together. You know what I mean, and this is my favorite one.
The series covers a bunch of different weeks when M and S are on suspension
and have some 'downtime.' They can't seem to stay away from each other.
Sweet MSR and a Mulder and Scully that I just truly adore. |

Spell Series - by Kelli Rocherolle
My favorite MarriedFic. Extremely well writeen, sweet, lots and
lots of angst and surprises. I know a lot of you don't like to read MarriedFic,
and I don't blame you, but this one's really really good. |
| Roads Series (aka: Going Nowhere) - by Nicole Perry
Well, we're back to torture and disability again. This is also the greatest
'on the run' story. Scully is blinded in an explosion and the Consortium
is after her for what she saw and what she is to them. She and Mulder
are on the run while she learns to live with her blindness. GREAT angst,
great MSR, great M/S friendship, great adventure.. This story really
has it all, and it's SOOO well written.

| Cheapened Things - by MD1016
I think this is the first smutty fic I ever read. But it's so much more
than smut. It's one of the most bitter, wonderful, intriguiging MSR's
I've ever read. It's also short and to the point. Just read it. Oh,
and can you say "mutual masturbation?"

| Five Days and One Night - by Shalimar
I have no clue how to describe this one. It's so complicated
and great and angsty. Scully moves away, Mulder tracks her down and tells
her he's found a child created using her ova and he's making arrangements
for her to adopt it. Incredible MSR and angst that left me in tears. This
story is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of the best things I've
ever read. |
| The Magician Series - by Suzanne Bickerstaffe and Jennifer
Lyon
My absolute favorite Alternate Universe. I love fantasy, what
can I say? Mulder and Scully are beamed into a fantasy world complete with
magic and swords and monsters. They're there, of course, to save the world.
This is as good as any fantasy novel I've ever read. Even better, actually,
because Mulder and Scully are in it. |
| Playing Goddess - by Shalimar
My other favorite smutty fic. Actually, this story is really beautiful.
It's short and I don't want to ruin it, but it involves a little moonlit
skinny dipping. How could you go wrong?
