2004-2005; THE SEASON WINNING BECAME THE 'NORM'

After enduring a difficult 2003-2004 season, Norman Cunningham shrugged off the tag of 'best skip never to win the league' by ultimately running away with the Gourdie Trophy. Only 3 defeats in 22 games (one of them down to an alleged Malaysian betting plot) said it all. Once again the trophies were spread around the club, with Robert McClure and Fraser Gray successful in the 3rd's competitions, and Ronnie Rushton in the Centenary. The Superleague Trophy stayed with PGCC for the 3rd successive year with John McDougall taking the honours this year. However the highlight of the year was the retention of the Boyd Trophy, and David Gourdie's last stone. 1503 stones had been thrown in the competition, and Gourock lay the one shot they needed to clinch the trophy for the first time. The 1504th and final shot of series of 12 matches fell to Gourdie, who produced the perfect tap through to retain the trophy. One to remember - unless you're from Gourock of course.
