Brent's Family

Safely Home

I am Home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.

And he came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it while life remaineth
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

My Best Friend

My best friend that I would like to share with you is my Uncle Brent. Brent is my mom's half brother. He died in a car wreck a year ago May 9, 1998. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He was around six foot tall and weighed 175 pounds. He was in the eleventh grade. Brent was my favorite family member that I had. He was so special to me. He would take up for me if we ever got in trouble and he would always take the blame. He didn't really seem like an uncle to me because he was only two and a half years older than me. I looked up to him and he was my hero.

Brent played sports when he was little. He played biddy basketball and summer baseball. He was good t both of them. He would come to our house and stay for days. We loved to play sega and basketball. We would stay outside and play basketball for hours and hours. He loved the Chicago Bulls basketball team and Michael Jordan was his hero.

Brent would have graduated Monday, May 17, 1999. They had his picture on his chair where he would have been sitting. It was really sad. They played a special song in his memory. When they were calling the graduates to get their diploma, they called for a word of silence before they called out Brent's name. It made us all cry. I do miss him, but I can hold his memory in my heart and he can live on forever. I know he is in Heaven watching over me, so I call him my blue eyed angel!

This was written by Brent's nephew, Trey, for a school project in high school.

To Live In Hearts We Leave Behind
Is Not To Die

In March 1998, Brent had his Junior Prom. He went with one of Brandon's friends and Brandon (already graduated) went with one of Brent's friends. They both said they had the time of their lives and I am so thankful that they did this together because in less than two months Brent was gone.
