If Emma Only Knew
As Buffy and Riley walked back to the farmhouse, the creatures that they had seen were talking in the cave.
"Do you think those people saw us?" The male vampire was worried because he didn't want their life here to get screwed up.
"Of course they saw us. It just gives us a reason to kill them. Don't act so worried." The female vampire was happy. She was going to actually get to eat a human. Out in the country, they were hard to come by.
The two vampires had been there for a few weeks, waiting for 'it' to arrive. There had been no sign of life until this morning when those two kids showed up. Well, it was their misfortune. The blood bags were getting empty and it would be nice to taste a human again.
The vampire were under strict orders not to be seen nor feed on a human until 'it' arrived. The vampires didn't even know what 'it' was. All they knew was that the wait was killing them. At least, they would have something to do while they waited for 'it'.
These two vampires were the first two to arrive for something big, bigger than anything before. The Master had send them ahead, and these two vampires had done their fair share of waiting. So they would be breaking the rule about feeding from humans; it would be worse if the humans were allowed to spread the knowledge of their presence.
"Only twelve more hours until we get to feed. I can't wait."
"If you don't stop it, I am going to put a stake through your heart so fast you won't know what hit you." Her companion was getting on her nerves, and she wouldn't mind killing him. He would be no great loss.
"Darla, I am just anticipating the kill tonight. Sorry."
You should be, you silly fool...you should be, Darla thought to herself.
Buffy and Riley had just gotten back from their sunrise expedition. No one else in the house was even up since it was a Saturday. Riley, being a gentlemen, offered the shower to Buffy first. Buffy accepted eagerly, since she wanted time alone to think about those vampires in the woods.
Buffy ran up the stairs, quickly retrieving her purple bathrobe from her bedroom. She went into the bathroom and turned on the hot water, adjusting the temperature as she thought about what to do.
What did those vampires want? And what were they doing in Huxley? It was times like this that she really missed Merrick. He could have told her exactly what those vampires were up to. As it stood now, she had nobody to rely on. It was her, alone against the undead.
Buffy felt the warm water wash over her body, and forgot all about the vampires. Her mind was focused on something totally different. Something named Riley.
She could still feel his body next to hers even though he was no longer near her. Her body felt like it was on fire whenever he was around. Riley was just amazing, and even more so since he took her to see the most beautiful sunrise ever.
What was she going to do? She couldn't just go up to Riley and tell him how she felt. Riley's parents would have her back in LA faster than she could say 'Danger! Vampires!' if they found out about her interest in their son.
Everything about Riley was wonderful and sexy. There was nothing better than him. When he left a room, she could still smell his aftershave. When he was thinking really hard, he would pout his lips. Everyone always made fun of him for doing it, but Buffy though it was downright sexy. When you stood behind him, he would wiggle his butt, not noticeable to the a untrained eye. Luckily, Buffy had a very well trained eye.
Riley was just what every girl wanted, and Buffy was no exception. Only, she was one of the girls who couldn't have him. Huxley was a double-edged sword.. Buffy had found the one thing in the world that she wanted, and fate wouldn't let her have him.
It was that damn Slayer crap. She would never find happiness because of it. Being the Slayer was the reason she was in Huxley in the first place. "Oh, stop feeling sorry for yourself," Buffy muttered to herself.
Buffy turned off the water and just stood there for a moment, not wanting to move. Finally, she pulled the curtain back, just as the door opened.
Time seemed to stand still as Buffy and Riley stared at each other, then Buffy quickly grabbed her robe and held it in front of her body.
Riley stood in the doorway just staring at the girl in front of him. At least she had enough sense to cover herself; Riley couldn't have moved for anything at that moment. He had just seen the girl of hisdreams naked and his mind and body was paralyzed with pleasure.
"I....I thought you were out of here. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to walk in on you. If I had know that you were in here, I would have never come in. I should have knocked. My mother tried to teach me values, I..." Riley always seemed to blab when he got nervous, and boy, was he nervous!
"Riley, it's okay. Can you please go? I need to get dressed." Buffy was feeling very naked right now in more ways than one.
"I'm so sorry. I ....I am just going now." Riley left before he started to babble any more. He had just walked in on her, and he didn't need to make things worse. He slumped, banging his head on the wall repeatedly. This was not how he was going to win Buffy's heart. She would probably never look at him again.
Buffy sat down on the toilet thinking what a mess this was. Riley would probably never look at her again. At least, not without picturing her naked.
Riley was eating pancakes at the kitchen table when Buffy came down. Neither could look the other in the eye. "Boy, this was going to be fun," Buffy thought to herself.
Buffy chose to sit at the far end of the table from Riley. This made Riley very uneasy. 'She can't even stand to sit next to me. How is she ever going to fall for me? I just had to walk in. I couldn't just knock.' Riley said to himself.
"Riley, can you please pass the pancakes to Buffy?"
Riley passed the plate across the table, accidentally brushing her fingers with his. Buffy jumped in her chair. She was just shocked, that's all, she tried to tell herself.
Emma took notice and blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "What's wrong, Buffy? Riley see you naked?"
If only Emma knew how close she was to the truth.
