Meet the author--Matthew's Site for Tuberous Sclerosis Awareness

A Note From the Author

As a parent, you want to remove as many obstacles as you can so your child can succeed. When they are learning to walk, you clear the room of toys, blankets and sometimes furniture. You make sure there is nothing in their way that might hinder those early steps.

Matthew's obstacle in life right now is his disorder. It is not that he has a disorder. The obstacle he faces is that no one has heard of the disorder. It is my goal as a parent ro to remove this obstacle. Tuberous Sclerosis will forever be a part of his life, and it has a huge potential to be a part of the lives of his children. If I can remove this obstacle for him, I will have done so for many generations and for many other families.

With much apprehension about learning this web page stuff, I finally dove right in to it. This is my first attempt at constructing a site... constructive criticism and helpful comments are appreciated!!! Angelfire has made it pretty easy with the web shell format for storing your information. The format they give you to work with along with the tutorials are great for beginners such as myself! The most time consuming element has been searching the web for FREE GRAPHICS. I have included a few links where I got mine.

I began construction on July 25, 2001. I have added pages and taken some away. The ones posted now have probably gone through some sort of metamorphasis before the final state you are viewing them.

A few notes on me...

My name is Julie. I am a 29 year old full time Mom of two boys and wife to Ron. We will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary this winter. Our oldest son is Aaron who is 3.5 years old. The youngest is of course Mattew, age 19 months. Additional members of the family include 2 cats and 2 dogs. Guess what? You will soon be able to meet the pets!

Being full time Mom is my #1 priority. I enjoy photography, although you will find my children serve as my main subjects. I love to bake and usually enjoy cooking. I welcome your recipes and cooking tips. Always happy to try new meals.

Right now most of my free time is dedicated to this site and other projects promoting awareness and education about Tuberous Sclerosis. I certainly welcome your comments and stories if you are a family facing this disorder. Since this project keeps me online a lot, I am one of those "chataholocis." You will find me on AOL instant messenger, ICQ and iSpQ video chat.

If anyone actually took the time to read this....

Please sighn our guestbook. I am very confident that I can make a difference through education. By signing our guest book, you are letting me know I educated at least one more person. If you are family facing this disorder...please share your story! We would love to post it for you!
