Chapter 17
“So you’re coming tonight?” Jay asked as he pulled some clothes out of his suitcase.
“Where?” Adam asked, looking up from the book he was reading.
“The club,” Jason said with a smile, “we’re all going.”
“I don’t feel like clubbing’ tonight Jay,” Adam said, only partly lying. He wanted to be with Megan, and with Jason out for the night he didn’t have to worry.
“Come on Adam,” Jason said, “Everyone’s gonna be there.”
“Not everyone,” Adam mumbled under his breath, not him and not Meg. They were going to be together.
“Huh?” Jason asked, not able to hear his friend.
“I was just saying I’m not feeling too well and I don’t really want to go out,” Adam lied.
“Well, if you really don’t wanna,” Jason sighed. Jason heard a knock on the door.
“I got it,” Adam said, jumping from his spot on the bed and running to the door, thankful for an interruption.
“Hey,” he smiled as he opened the door and saw Megan.
“Hi,” she said softly, almost nervously, “Can I come in?”
“Sure,” he said, opening the door wider and stepping out of the way.
“Oh, hey Jay,” Megan said, surprised and disappointed to see her cousin standing there.
“You’re coming tonight, right?” Jason asked.
“Where we going?” Megan asked, sitting on the end of Jason’s bed.
“Clubbing,” Jason said, doing a little dance.
Megan laughed as she watched her cousin, “I don’t think so, I don’t feel too much like partying tonight,” she quickly looked over at Adam, who was looking at Jason.
“Come on Meg,” Jason said, “Adam’s being a party pooper too. You guys have to go.”
“I just don’t feel like it,” Megan answered.
“Same here,” Adam agreed.
“You guys really suck, you know that?” Jason said crossing his arm like a 5 year old who didn’t get what he wanted.
Megan and Adam laughed, and eventually caved in to Jason.

“This sucks,” Adam said once they were in the crowded club and away from Jason, “I really wanted to spend some time with you tonight.”
“Yeah, to talk right?” Megan teased.
“Well, and that,” Adam laughed.
“I have a plan don’t worry,” she smiled, “for now let’s hit the dance floor and have fun.”
Adam nodded as he followed her over to where some of his friends were. Adam watched Megan dance seductively to the music with a few different guys; he smiled to himself, knowing he was going to have her all to himself later.
Adam watched Megan walk over to Jason half an hour later, he followed her.
“Jay, I’m gonna head back to the hotel,” Adam heard Megan saying, “I feel so sick.”
“I’ll take her,” Adam offered, walking up to the two.
“That’s ok, I’ll bring her back,” Jay reassured him.
“Hey, Jay,” Adam said with a smile, “I saw you with that blonde. Let me take Megan back.”
Jason looked over at the blonde, she waved over at him.
“Are you sure?” Jay asked, grinning.
“Sure, we’ll grab a taxi,” Adam said, “I’ll see you back in the room later.”
“Thanks man,” Jason called after them, “Feel better Meg.”
They both waved to him, turned around and smiled at each other. Both feeling guilty about once again lying, but knowing it would be worth it.
