Chapter 20

Adam unlocked the door to his room and walked in. He looked around, Jay hadn’t gotten back yet. He let out a deep sigh as he flopped onto his bed, feeling exhausted.

A ton of other feelings rushed over him as well. He was in love and it felt great, and because of that the guilt he had felt was lessening. Although he started to feel another sort of guilt. He felt guilty that he wasn’t feeling more guilty about lying to his best friend. He hated that he could lie to his best friend and wasn’t feeling the least bit remorseful.

He picked up the phone and quickly dialed the number.

“Hello?” Megan’s voice asked.

“Meg, it’s Adam. Jay isn’t back yet,” he said quickly into the phone.

“Ok, good,” she said into the phone, “Well, thanks. I’ll let you go…”

“Well, I wanted to tell you one more thing,” he interrupted.

“Yeah?” Megan asked curiously.

“I had the best time last night and this morning Meg,” Adam said, “and I love you.”

Megan could hear the sincerity in his voice, “I love you too baby. I’ll talk to you later, ok?”

“Yeah, bye Meg.” Adam said hanging up.

Adam turned on the TV and sat on his bed, he ended up falling asleep.

A few minutes later Jason walked into the room, letting the door shut loudly behind him. Adam jumped out of his peaceful nap.

“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were asleep,” Jason said, walking over to his suitcase and pulling out some clean clothes.

“It’s ok,” Adam said sitting up, “I guess I just zoned out. So you have fun last night?”

“Yeah, Becky, the blonde I met, well she’s awesome,” Jason told him, “We ended up talking until 4 am, then we both fell asleep on the couch. But she was really interesting. I got her number and email and hopefully we can stay in touch.”

“I’m happy for you man,” Adam smiled.

“Now we just gotta get a girl for you,” Jason laughed.

Adam smiled, he had one, but he couldn’t tell Jay that so he just nodded.

“I’m gonna change and then go see what Meg’s up to,” Jason said, walking towards the bathroom.

Megan finished blow-drying her hair. She quickly dabbed on a little makeup and hurried out of her room. She half walked, half ran to Jeff’s room. He was the person she turned to when she needed advice, or just needed to talk.

She quickly and loudly knocked on the door.

“Hey,” Jeff said opening the door, once again only wearing his boxers.

“Sorry,” she grinned sheepishly, “I seem to have the worst timing.”

“It’s ok,” Jeff said smiling, “What’s up? You sure look happy.”

Megan quickly shut the door, “Last night was incredible!” she sighed as she flopped down onto Jeff’s bed.

“Care to elaborate on that?” Jeff asked sitting next to her.

Megan sat up, “Adam.”

“Oohhh,” Jeff laughed, “I see.”

“You don’t understand!” Megan laughed, punching his arm.

“Sure I do,” Jeff said smiling, “You guys had a night of great sex, am I right?”

“Well, yeah,” Megan said, “But there’s more!”

“How can there be more?” Jeff joked, “Isn’t sex all you care about?”

Megan’s jaw dropped, “You are an asshole Jeff Hardy!” she said as she hit his shoulder.

“I try,” he laughed, grabbing Meg in a headlock, “You wanna tell me what else happened.”

“Jeff, you’re messing up my hair!” Megan squealed, “Let me go and I’ll tell you!”

Jeff let go, laughing, “Fine, fine.”

Megan stood up and looked into the mirror, her hair was all over the place, she tried the slick it back into place without luck.

“So you wanna tell me?” Jeff asked.

“Adam told me he loves me!” Megan cried happily.

Jeff smiled widely, “Well, congratulations Meg. That’s great.”

“Thanks,” she said hugging Jeff, “I wanted him to say that to me from the moment I got here, now he finally has. Now the only problem is telling Jay.”

Jeff’s smile faded, he knew that was going to be a huge problem.
