Chapter 21

“Meg…” Jason called tapping on her hotel door, “Meg…”

When he didn’t get a response he turned and walked back to his room. Adam looked up from his magazine as Jason entered the room.

“She wasn’t there,” Jason said sitting on the bed, “That’s weird, I wonder where she went to?”

“I dunno,” Adam told his friend, “Maybe she was in the shower or something.”

“Or maybe she’s with Jeff,” Jason said, standing up, “she didn’t expect me to be back for a few hours… that’s where she is, she’s with Jeff.”

“Jay calm down,” Adam told his friend, “there’s nothing going on between them. She told you that herself. Besides, Jeff and her are just friends. Don’t jump to conclusions!”

“Well something’s going on with her,” Jason said standing up, “and I know she’s hiding something from me, and I’m going to find out.”

“Shit” Adam mumbled as he followed his friend out of the room.

Megan lied back on the bed as Jeff talked. Listening to him, but not paying much attention, she was so tired.

“You look tired,” he said to Megan, who’s eyes kept closing.

“Just a little,” she yawned, “And you look quite naked.”

Jeff laughed, looking down at himself, still only in his boxers. “Well, you have the greatest timing…”

Megan laughed as she snuggled into Jeff’s pillow.

Megan heard the knock on the door, but it seemed so far away as she was drifting into sleep on Jeff’s bed.

“Hey Jay, hey Adam,” Megan heard Jeff say. She sat up quickly and looked at her cousin and Adam.

“What’s going on here?” Jason asked, looking from Jeff who was wearing only a pair of boxers to Megan who was still on Jeff’s bed, her hair all over the place.

“What do you mean?” Jeff asked, then realized how the situation looked, “Oh Jay, man. Meg came over to talk and I had just gotten out of the shower. There’s nothing going on…”

“Just like the last time I walked in on the 2 of you,” Jason interrupted.

“Jay, chill. There’s nothing going on!” Megan demanded, standing up and looking into his eyes, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Like hell there’s not!” Jason said, “He’s sitting here in his boxers, you’re asleep in his bed. What do you want me to think?”

“I want you to trust me and believe me when I tell you that nothing is going on,” Megan said loudly.

“Jeff, I can’t believe you’d go after my cousin,” Jason said ignoring his cousin, “Is she just going to be another whore to you?”

“Jason,” Megan shrieked, looking at Jeff’s face. He looked like he had just been punched in the stomach.

“You know I’m not like that man,” Jeff said quietly, obviously hurt, “and it hurts to think one of my best friends thinks I’m nothing but a womanizer… Now listen to me, there’s nothing going on between Me and Meg. I swear it, I swear on my mama’s grave.”

Adam lowered his eyes to the ground. Jeff and Jay’s friendship could be ruined and it was all Adam’s fault. Jason opened his mouth to talk, but was interrupted by Megan.

“Jay, you gotta believe us, there is nothing going on between us,” Megan pleaded with her cousin, “please believe me.”

“Meg, I want to, but…” Jason’s voice trailed off.

“Jay, there’s nothing between Megan and Jeff,” Adam finally spoke up.

Jason looked over at Adam, he had almost forgotten he was there. “How do you know?” Jason asked.

“Because,” Adam took a deep breath, the time had come for the truth to come out, “Because, Meg… Meg and I are together… not her and Jeff, but her and me. I’m with Megan.”
