Chapter 4

Adam lied on his bed, humming along to a Pearl Jam CD he borrowed from Matt.

“It’s open,” he said as he heard a knock on the door.

“Hey,” Megan said walking into the hotel room, “Is Jay here?”

“I think he’s with some of the guys down at the pool,” Adam said staring at Megan. It had been such a long time since he had last seen her, but she still looked beautiful. Her curly blond hair was up in a ponytail and her green eyes sparkled. Adam couldn’t think how much she still looked like a teenager in her tight flare jeans and black tank top, she seemed to have grown a lot in height though, most of it legs.

“Anyways,” Megan said, feeling Adam’s gaze, “You busy?”

“Not really,” he said as he tore his gaze from Megan and looked down at the comforter. She smiled as she saw his cheeks turn a little red.

“I’m going to head down to the pool, you wanna go?” she asked hopefully. She hadn’t admitted it to any of her friends, but she secretly wished she and Adam could rekindle their relationship. She knew she was just a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, she hadn’t even seen him in close to 3 years. And their relationship had been over for close to 7 years, when she left for school.

“I don’t think so,” he answered, “I just kind of want to stay here and chill.”

“Ok,” she said, turning to leave, “Adam?”

“Yeah?” he answered.

“Is it going to be weird with me being here?” she asked.

“Why?” he asked, trying to act as if nothing ever happened.

“Never mind,” she said as she walked out of the room. She sighed as she walked out of the room, knowing her silly fantasy of ever being with Adam again was just that… A fantasy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~*Flashback*~~~~~~~~~~~
Megan was singing along to a Madonna song on the radio. She danced around her room, brushing her hair. She stopped dead as she heard a noise at her window, it sounded like pebbles hitting it. She silently went over to the window and opened it carefully.
“Meg,” she heard someone hiss. She looked down to see Adam standing in the driveway, “Come down.” She nodded her head as she quickly made her way out of the room. She looked at the door next to hers, Jason’s room, the door was closed and she heard some music coming from it. He was probably doing homework. She made her way quickly down the stairs as silently as she could and opened the front door.
“Where are you going Meg?” Megan heard, as she was halfway out the door. Crap, she was caught. She turned around slowly and saw the last person she wanted to see… Jason.
“I was going over to Jessica’s,” she lied, “to help her with some math homework.”
“It’s already 9,” Jason informed her.
“Gee thanks Dad,” she said sarcastically, “She lives right down the street and I just have to help her study a little, I’ll be home by 10.”
“Let me walk you,” he offered.
“Chill Jay,” she said feeling nervous, “I’ll be fine.”
“OK,” he said reluctantly, “Home by 10.”
“Yeah,” she replied as she rushed out the door, “Bye.”
She quickly raced around the corner to the driveway where she had seen Adam standing before. There was no one there.
“Adam?” she whispered through the darkness, “Adam, where are you?”
She gasped as a hand grabbed her, covering her mouth, and carrying her behind a tree.
“Adam,” she said as he let go and she turned around, “You scared the shit out of me, that was such…” She was cut off as he covered her mouth with his.
“What took you so long,” he asked as he broke the kiss.
“Jay saw me leaving,” she answered.
“He did?” Adam asked nervously, “What did you say? What happened?”
“I told him I was going to my friends for an hour,” Megan said, leaning against a tree, “Don’t worry.”
“OK,” Adam said, looking around feeling nervous, as if Jason was going to see them.
“Calm down baby,” Megan said taking his face in her hands, “He won’t find out, we’ll be careful.” Even at 15, she acted more mature for her age and looked older. Adam nodded, finally calming down.
“Good,” Megan said as she placed her lips on his and wrapping her arm around his neck. Adam kissed her back, but couldn’t help feeling cautious as he looked around.
“Concentrated on us Adam,” Megan said as she looked up into his eyes, “We don’t have to worry, Jay has no idea.” Meg looked into Adam’s eyes that had doubt in them.
“I hope you’re right,” He whispered.
“Of course I am,” Megan said as she kissed him again.
