Chapter 7

Adam slowly entered his hotel room, Megan right behind him. Jason looked up.

“You ok?” he asked, barely moving from his spot.

“Yeah,” she said, throwing up seemed to help her get some of the alcohol out of her system, “I’m sorry Jay.”

“You are?” he asked surprised, never expecting an apology from Megan.

“I know you are only looking out for me and you’re worried about me,” she said, “I acted like an idiot, I’m really sorry about everything I said.”

“I’m sorry too,” he said as he wrapped his arms around his cousin. Adam smiled, this scene looked so familiar. It seemed just like the day before Megan left for France.

~~~~~*Flashback*~~~~~~~~~~
“We’re going to miss you Meg,” Jason said from the table of the restaurant they were at celebrating Megan’s leaving.
“We really will,” Her aunt said. Meg looked around; her parent’s didn’t come- of course- they were away with business. She sighed, he parent’s never made it to anything in her life. She looked around at the people she knew really loved her, her aunt, her uncle, Jason, and… Adam. She studied Adam for a few seconds, until he looked up at Megan. She quickly turned away.
“I wanted to go out with Adam and Megan for a little while tonight,” Jason said after they ate dessert, “You know, ‘cause we won’t get to all hang out once she leaves.”
“Make sure you have her home by midnight,” her aunt warned, “she has an early flight.”
“Ok, great,” Jason said, standing up, “I’ll see you guys at home.”
Adam and Megan followed Jason out of the restaurant to his car.
“I need to get gas,” Jason said pulling into a gas station, “I’ll be back in a minute.” Jason climbed out of the car, leaving Adam and Megan alone. They hadn’t said more than 5 words to each other since the prom 2 months earlier.
“Meg, I need to talk to you,” Adam said from the backseat.
“About what?” she asked.
“What happened at prom,” he said, “We need to talk before you leave.”
“I don’t wanna hear it,” she said.
“Please Meg, give me 10 minutes,” he pleaded. Megan heard the urgency in his voice.
“Fine,” she agreed, “Meet me outside of my room at 1.”
“Great Meg,” he sighed with relief. She sighed too, hoping she was right deciding to meet him.
Megan snuck out her front door at 1:03 wearing a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt. As soon as she stepped out the door she regretted it, it was cold and dark. She made her way around the house, something she had been doing for so long to meet Adam. But the past times were filled with anxiousness and happiness, now she felt nothing but emptiness and hurt.
“You came,” he cried, “I didn’t think you would.”
“I’m here,” she said crossing her arms, “Now explain.”
“What happened at prom was a mistake- the biggest one I’ve ever made. It caused me to lose the one person I care about more than anybody. I’ve been paying for my mistake for the past 2 months. Every time I see you I want to run over and hug and kiss you. It hurts to see you, I know I fucked up our relationship and it was the stupidest thing I have ever done. I still care about you Meg. A day doesn’t go by where I don’t regret what happened, a day doesn’t go by where I don’t think about you.” Adam stopped, his face red from the cold. Megan studied his eyes, they looked so honest. His face showed nothing but pain, pain that was because they were no longer together.
“You’re telling the truth,” Megan said softly, she stepped closer to him, her hand ran through his hair.
“Of course I am,” he whispered, “I really do care about you Meg, I actually think I’m in love with you.” Megan’s heart went into her throat. Had she heard right? He said he was in love with her?
“You love me?” she asked skeptically.
“I do,” he replied. She stared at him, trying to tell if he was lying or not. His face looked so honest.
“Good,” she replied, as she got closer, so they were face to face.
“Good?” he asked.
“Good that I’m not the only one who’s felt that way,” she replied, she wrapped her arms around Adam, “I’ve missed you so much.”
He kissed her, softly at first, then it intensified.
“Adam?” she asked, between kisses.
“Yeah.”
“You wanna go up to my room?” she asked. Adam pulled away softly.
“To your room?” he asked nervously.
“Yeah,” she nodded shyly, “It’s my last night here, I want to spend it with you.” He nodded, grabbing onto her hand as they both walked quietly into the house and up to her room.
