Chapter Ten

Amy’s heart pounded as she sat in the woman’s locker room. Her hair was done, her make-up was on, and so was her skintight red outfit, now all she had to do was wait for over an hour before she made her debut.

The locker room was empty, and every once in awhile someone would walk in and out, with a quick hi and a good luck. She looked around the empty locker room, bras and pants were thrown around carelessly and bags sat open, makeup lined counters and hair stuff was scattered around in every direction.

“You ok?” She heard a voice ask behind her, she turned around and smiled at the brunette.

“I’m fine Lisa, thanks,” she nodded, “just a little nervous.”

“I felt the same way before I debuted,” Lisa Moretti agreed, better known as Ivory, “My heart was pounding and I thought I was going to throw up, but it was fine and you are going to be fine. I know you will.”

“Thanks,” was all Amy could manage.

“Don’t worry kiddo,” Lisa comforted, hitting her shoulder, “if you need anything, just find me. But I gotta get out there.”

Lisa grabbed the woman’s title off the floor and tossed it over her shoulder. Amy watched her, knowing no one woman deserved it more. Lisa smiled and nodded at her as she started to walk out.

“Hey Lisa, let’s see how tonight goes and maybe I’ll get a chance at you and that title,” Amy called to the brunette.

“It would be a pleasure,” Lisa returned, walking out and leaving Amy alone again.

Her mind quickly wandered from her match to Matt. She hadn’t seen him for more then a few minutes the past couple of days, and when they had talked it was awkward.

“I thought things hadn’t changed,” she mumbled to herself, before standing up and stretching out her arms.

“Stop it,” she scolded herself, knowing that she had to concentrate on her debut and stop worrying about Matt, but her mind kept wandering to him.

Amy jumped as she heard a knock at the door, wondering if it was Matt coming to wish her luck. She imagined the scene now, Matt standing there, a smile on his face and possibly flowers in hand, ready to give her a good luck kiss and tell her she’d do great. It sounded like something Matt would do…it was him, she knew it.

“2 seconds,” she called, jumping up and checking her perfectly done hair in the makeup.

“Hi Ma…” but stopped as she saw Jeff standing there, a smile on his face. Her smile faded as she looked at the younger Hardy standing there, his brother nowhere to be found.

“Hey Amy,” Jeff greeted awkwardly, seeing the disappointment in her eyes. He could kill his brother for not coming with him.

“Jeff…hey, I wasn’t expecting you,” Amy said, forcing a smile.

“Yeah, I just wanted to wish you luck Ames. I know Matt did too, but he got involved with something,” Jeff lied.

“Oh…well, thanks Jeff. It means a lot.”

Jeff smiled and nodded. Amy looked at the floor, clasping her hands together. Jeff looked her over. The tight, leather, red outfit looked as if it had been painted on her body. Her hair seemed to match it perfectly and her massive tattoo stood out.

“You look…uhh…wow,” Jeff said, causing Amy to smile and look up at him, “Can’t wait to see what Matt says when he sees you.”

“I doubt he’d even notice,” Amy mumbled, pushing bright, red hair out of her face.

“Amy…”

“No Jeff, tell me the truth, Matt isn’t involved in something, he just didn’t want to see me before my match.”

“That’s not it, he told me he wanted to give you space. Not crowd you…”

“Whatever,” Amy mumbled, “he told me nothing changed. Now he won’t even see me.”

“It’s not like that at all…” Jeff started.

“Then what is it Jeff?” Amy interrupted, tears threatening, a mix of emotions and nerves, “he told me things wouldn’t change. I believed him. I really thought things were going to be the same, but now he won’t even look at me.”

“Amy,” Jeff tried to soothe, but she just held up her hand to silence him.

“I…I really need to concentrate on my debut,” Amy said, her hand and voice shaking, “thanks so much for coming though. I appreciate it.”

“You’re like a sister Amy,” Jeff whispered, pulling her into a hug, “be careful out there. Don’t get hurt.”

She didn’t know if he was referring to Matt or about her debut. She figured it was both. She watched as he walked down the hallway with his usual quick pace.

“Hardy, you be careful out there too!” she called and smiled as he turned around, flashing her a thumbs up.

She disappeared into the locker room, only half an hour to her debut. Her heart pounding and hands sweating, she decided it was time to find Essa.

She took a deep breath before exiting the room, “Here you go girl. Everything’s about to change.”
