Chapter 13
“Hi,” Matt whispered softy, “I know I haven’t come to see you in awhile, I’m sorry.”
Matt placed a hand on his mother’s gravestone and knelt to the ground. The full moon was bright, and illuminated the gravestone. Matt read the engravings on it, he always did.
“Loving Mother and Wife” was written at the bottom, and Matt couldn’t agree more. She was one of the most wonderful, compassionate, devoted people he had ever met, but was taken away from him when he was so young.
“I see Dad came the other day,” Matt whispered with a smile, looking at the flowers that had been placed next to the grave.
“Mom, I need you’re help,” Matt whispered, “I need you to give me strength, to help me get Emily back. I don’t think I can do it myself. I need her Mom; I miss her so much. I love her like…”
Matt sighed and rested his head on the gravestone. The coolness of the granite on his forehead. He bit his lip as a tear slipped down his cheek.
“I always feel when I start to love someone, they get taken away,” Matt whispered softly, not bothering to wipe away the tear, “and I can’t lose Emily Mom, I can’t.”
Matt stood up feeling better, he wiped away the single tear that had spilled down his cheek. He smiled as he looked at the gravestone.
“Thanks Mom,” he murmured, “Wish me luck.”
Matt quickly kissed the granite gravestone and walked back to his car. He looked back at it once. The moonlight seemed to shine directly on it and Matt smiled. Then, he quickly climbed into his car and drove away.
