Chapter 1
Jason Reso unlocked the door to his apartment and shut the door quietly behind him. He dropped his 3 bags next to the door and groaned, his body was killing him, he had had a rough night. Jessie, his golden retriever, walked over to him tiredly, Jason smiled as he quickly petted his dog and looked at the clock- 4:22AM. He walked into his living room, Jessie at his ankles, and grinned at what he saw. He walked over to the TV and turned it off, then walked over to the couch and looked at the girl lying there. He couldn’t help but think how beautiful she was just lying there. He pushed back a strand of her loose, long brown hair gently and kissed her forehead. Her eyes fluttered open.
“Hi,” he whispered.
“Hey,” she said quietly wiping at her eye, “I must have fallen asleep, I was waiting for you to get home.” He smiled as he looked down at her, he leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips.
“Do you know how bad I missed you Gwen?” he asked, looking deeply into her eyes.
“I can only imagine,” she joked as she reached up and kissed him again.
“I’m going to go get changed,” he said as he broke the kiss, “I’ll be to bed in 10 minutes.”
“I’ll see if I can stay up,” she laughed as she walked into their bedroom and Jason walked into the connecting bathroom.
“You better,” he warned jokingly as he walked into the bathroom. Gwen smiled at the thought of her boyfriend. She loved him so much, she just hated his career took him away from her so much. She knew how much he loved wrestling, and the WWF was his life, she just wished they could spend more time together. He was gone Sunday mornings until very early Tuesday mornings and their time away killed her. Then some times he’d be away for weeks at a time with appearances and autograph signings. She had gotten pretty used to it in the 2 years they had been dating, but it still didn’t make it easier for her. She smiled as he emerged from the bathroom wearing only a pair of sweatpants. He climbed into bed besides her and wrapped his arms around her.
“I really have missed you,” he said seriously.
“I know,” Gwen said back, “and I missed you too, but what can we do?”
“Yeah,” he said as his lips brushed her cheek, “But then we gotta make up for that lost time with nights like these.” Gwen giggled, no matter how tired or in pain she knew Jason was in he was always ready for some fun.
“Not tonight baby,” she whispered, “You’re tired and you took a lot of beatings the past two nights, and I’m really tired.”
He jokingly moped but then kissed her lips one more time, “That’s what I love about you, you always know exactly how I feel.”
“It’s a gift,” she joked. She looked down at the bottom of her bed, Jessie had made herself comfortable on the very end.
“It’s a great one,” Jason said, Gwen could see him falling asleep.
“I forgot to tell you!” Gwen suddenly said.
“What,” Jason mumbled, looking up into the eyes of the now upright Gwen.
“I promised my mom I’d go to dinner at my parent’s house tomorrow night,” she said, “I know it’s your day off, you don’t have to come, its ok.”
“No,” Jason said, “I want to go with you.”
“Really,” She asked, “Even if you have to deal with Derek and Lillian?” she said naming her 12-year-old brother and 14-year-old sister.
“If I have to,” Jason joked, “I mean it’s so hard to love having a kid who looks up to you like you’re a God ‘cause you’re a wrestler and another drooling over you.”
Gwen slapped his shoulder playfully; “Just remember which sister gives you those great back massages after your matches!” Gwen said teasingly, laying her head onto his shoulder.
“I love you,” he said as he looked down at the serene Gwen.
“Love you too,” she mumbled sleepily as the two fell into a peaceful asleep.
