Chapter 5
Gwen lied happily in bed later that night- staring at the ring on her finger. The large diamond was surrounded by many rubies which was her favorite jewel and her birthstone. The gold band was inscribed Jason and Gwen forever.
“That smile isn’t going to come off your face,” Jason said as he walked into the bedroom and climbed into bed with her.
“Nope,” she said happily as she turned her attention from the ring to her fiancée, “And you put it there.”
Jason smiled and kissed the tip of her nose, “I’m happy you like it,” he said, “And I’m relieved you said yes.”
Gwen giggled as she climbed closer to Jason and rested her head on the part of his shoulder that seemed to be made for her head, her head seemed to fit perfectly in it. She looked up at Jason, “So this means we’re going to be together forever.” She said smiling.
“Forever,” he said as he reached down and kissed her forehead, “Goodnight beautiful.”
“I love you,” she said as she fell asleep on his shoulder, feeling safe and full of love.

Jason rolled over in bed later that night and moved his arm over to touch where Gwen was sleeping. He opened his eyes as he realized he was alone in the bed. He sat up and tried to get his eyes to focus on the clock next to him. 5:45 am, it was too early for the two to get up on a Wednesday morning since neither of them were working. He could see light coming out from under the door of the bathroom. He leaned back as he wiped at his drowsy eyes. He strained to hear, it almost sounded like someone was gagging in the bathroom. He climbed out of bed and quietly walked to the door. He hear more heaves and the sound of small whimpers.
“Gwen?” he called softly as he knocked on the door, “Are you ok?”
“I’m… I’m fine,” she called softly, once again he heard more gagging. He tried the doorknob, unlocked. He opened the door slowly as he saw Gwen kneeling next to the toilet. He walked over to her, she looked up at him with her big brown eyes, bags were forming under her eyes. She looked so tired and worn out.
“I think I just have a stomach bug,” she mumbled as she tried to stand up. Her legs felt too weak. Jason kneeled down besides her, stroking her long brown hair.
“Why don’t we get you back to bed?” he said as he scooped her up into his arms. She nodded as he carried her to the bed and placed her in, pulling the sheets up to her shoulder. She smiled up at him, “I… um… I…” she started.
“Shhh,” Jason said kissing her forehead quickly, “Just go to sleep, we’ll talk in the morning.”
“Ok,” she nodded as she shut her eyes and fell back asleep in no time. Jason walked into the living room to sleep on the couch. He looked back at Gwen and got a bad feeling as chills went up and down his spine.
