Chapter 2
“We think you’d be ideal for this job Ms. Silvano,” Mr. McMahon said seated at his desk and looking at Leila, “your degree in communications makes you even more perfect for this job.”
Leila nodded that she understood, but didn’t say anything else. She looked over at Ed, then back at Vince McMahon.
“If you are still interested,” Vince said, “I’d like you to start coming to shows and spending some time with Lillian so that you learn the ropes of the business. Of course you’ll get paid for this time also.”
“That sounds good Mr. McMahon,” Leila said putting a smile on her face, “it will be a pleasure to work with the World Wrestling Federation.”
“That’s great,” Vince said with a smile standing up and shaking Leila’s hand, “and please call me Vince.”
Leila nodded as Vince and Ed shook hands quickly and said a few things to each other. Leila watched the two men until Vince turned back to her with a smile.
“Thank you very much for coming all the way to Connecticut for this meeting,” Vince said, “we’ll see you Monday so you can follow around Lillian and get the idea. Of course all your travel and lodge accommodations will be made and paid for by the WWF.”
“That’s very generous, I’ll see you Monday,” Leila said shaking his hand one more time before walking out the door with Ed at her heels.
“That wasn’t too bad, now was it?” Ed questioned as they stepped out of the office and shut the door.
Leila shrugged as she adjusted the jacket to the business dress she was wearing. She looked at Ed as he flipped through a folder he was carrying, losing his grip on it he dropped it to the floor where all the papers flew out.
“I’m going to head down to my car,” Leila informed him quickly as she walked away, leaving her agent to clean up his papers alone.
Leila walked along the long carpeted hallway, her heels making soft padding noises on the soft surface. Making it to the elevator she pressed the down button and crossed her arms as she waited for it.
As the elevator door swung open, a muscular man with long blonde hair walked out. He nodded quickly at her with a small smile before walking down the hallway the way she had just come.
She figured he must be a wrestler. Remembering that Vince had said that most wrestlers were off that day and some came here to work out in the gym downstairs. Walking quickly into the empty elevator she pressed the button to the first floor.
Emerging on the first floor, she turned a quick left. Pulling her keys out of her purse as she walked, she didn’t see where she was going and lost her footing on a fold in the carpet. As her knee hit the ground, she gritted her teeth together, hoping no one was around to notice how clumsy she just seemed.
Climbing to her feet and looking around to see who witnessed her fall, she noticed for the first time she was next to a glass door that led to a large, white exercise room. Her gaze landed on the single person in the room who was lifting weights a few feet from the door.
He wasn’t usually the type of man Leila would be attracted to, but she couldn’t help let her eyes wander over him as she looked into the room. He had blue and green hair that was tied into a ponytail and hung out of his hat. As she let her eyes wander down her body, she couldn’t help but let her eyes linger on his shirtless body. His long and muscular arms flexed as he did his reps with the weight, and she could see a small amount of sweat glistening on his smooth and sculpted chest.
As if feeling her gaze, the man looked straight at her. Surprised and embarrassed Leila dropped her car keys and stared quickly at the ground before bending over and retrieving her keys. Seeing this the man smiled, obviously amused by the woman watching him. He placed the hand weights he had been using on the ground before walking towards the hallway where the woman was standing. He slowly opened the glass door that led to the hallway as he used the t-shirt hung around his waist to wipe his chest and face of sweat.
“Hey, can I help you?” the man asked with a small smile.
“No, I was just leaving actually,” the woman said looking into the green eyes of the man she had been watching, “I just dropped my keys.”
“Alright,” the man replied with a smirk, “I’m Jeff Hardy by the way.”
“I’m leaving,” the woman said, still a little embarrassed as she turned around and walked down the hallway quickly.
“You never told me your name,” Jeff called to her retreating back.
“Leila Silvano,” she replied not turning around.
“Leila,” Jeff whispered with a small smile, liking the way it sounded coming off his tongue. He hoped that wouldn’t be the last time he saw her.
