chapter 4
“She really thinks she’s better then anyone else,” Adam said in reference to Leila.
“I’ve gotta agree with you there,” Amy agreed, nodding her head at the young blonde Canadian known as Edge.
“She’s been here a week and she thinks she owns the place,” Jeff’s brother Matt added as Adam and Amy shook their heads in agreement.
“Come on, give her a break,” Jeff interrupted, “y’all don’t even know her.”
“Does our little Jeffy have a crush on the new ring announcer?” Amy asked with a small laugh.
“No,” Jeff said defensively, “I’m just saying that we shouldn’t all judge her already. She’s new to the whole business.”
“I just don’t like her,” Amy replied, leaning back in her chair to the hotel restaurant and taking a sip of her coffee.
Jeff sighed as he looked at the red head known as Lita. Leila wasn’t getting rave reviews with other employees, especially the other wrestlers. Jeff knew she was a nice person once you could get to her; he just had to figure out how to do that. He started to every time he talked to her, but as soon as he started to get close she pulled away.
Looking around the table at his friends, he realized that they already had their ideas on Leila and weren’t willing to change them. Leila had been an employee for the WWF less then a week and had almost managed to alienate herself amongst all the other employees.
Jeff had only seen her for minutes at a time since Monday night. Now it was Saturday morning and he knew the only time he’d see her was at the house show later that night.
“She’s good looking though,” Adam said, knocking Jeff out of his thoughts, “too bad she’s such a bitch.”
“Who you guys talking about?” Jason Reso asked walking in and sitting down next to Adam.
“The new queen of the World Wrestling Federation,” Amy smiled offering a muffin to Jason, who they all knew as Jay and the fans knew as Christian.
“Leila, huh?” Jay asked accepting the muffin, “she seems like a handful huh?”
“Our little Jeffy’s got a crush on her,” his brother teased.
“Really?” Jay laughed, “I heard it was her birthday today.”
“What’s she doing for it?” Jeff asked.
“I dunno,” Jay shrugged, “Probably nothing. I didn’t hear anything.”
“Are you going to keep her company?” Matt teased good-naturedly as Amy and Adam laughed.
“As a matter of fact,” Jeff said standing up, “I think I will. Anyone know where she’s staying?”
“The Queen Suite,” Amy replied rolling her eyes, “She’s too good for a normal room.”
“Thanks,” Jeff answered, ignoring Amy’s last remark, “I’ll see y’all later.”
Jay, Adam, Matt, and Amy watched as he rushed out of the room quickly. Amy turned to Matt and shrugged her shoulders as Adam and Jay went back to eating.
“I just hope your little brother knows what he’s getting into,” Adam said to Matt, “before he gets hurt.”
“Me too,” Matt nodded, and for the first time in his life he felt he had to really worry about his baby brother.

Leila stumbled tiredly through the large sitting room of her suite as she struggled to tie the silk tie on her red robe. With a yawn she swung open the door and came face to face with Jeff.
“What are you doing here?” she asked sleepily and surprised, looking over the wide awake and fully dressed Jeff.
“Did I wake you up?” Jeff asked looking at the silk robe tied around her loosely. He could make out the black bra she wore underneath and tried to hide a grin and look away.
Leila nodded as she leaned on the door frame and let out another tired yawn. She looked at Jeff waiting for him to explain what he was doing there.
“I actually came to wish you a happy birthday,” Jeff smiled as he pulled a small white bear out of the pocket of his jeans, “I know it’s not much, but I just found out it was your birthday a little while ago and that’s all I could find.”
“Thanks,” she replied softly, taking the soft white bear and holding it against her chest as she crossed her arms in front of her, “you didn’t have to.”
“It’s your birthday, you don’t make a big deal of it?” Jeff asked.
“It’s just another day,” she replied with a shrug, “no big deal.”
“How about I take you out?” Jeff questioned, his smile growing wider.
“I actually have plans,” Leila replied.
“Like what?” Jeff asked unconvinced, crossing his arms in front of him.
“Uh…” Leila mumbled, “I’m… uh…”
“That’s what I thought,” Jeff laughed, “so what do you say?”
“Fine, lobby at 10,” Leila agreed giving-in.
“Make sure you wear something pretty,” Jeff said with a small wink.
Leila rolled her eyes as she stepped back into her hotel room and shut the door leaving Jeff standing alone in the hallway with a grin.
