Chapter 29

Matt arrived back to the hotel room around 10pm. He had sat around since about 7 o’clock with Vince working on the script for Angela’s debut. He was tried. He found the room empty and dark, he turned the lamp on his dresser on and saw a note from Jeff on the end of his bed,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matt,
Hey don’t wait up okay, I went out with Jay, Adam, and Shane. We’re going clubbing, and to do some gambling. I’ll see you in the morning, if Lita happens to call tell her I’ll page her when I get back. Angela called earlier, she might stop up, I dunno, I’m not sure what time it’ll be when you read this, I hope your meeting with Vince went well. Later.
Jeff. ~
Matt sighed. He folded up the note and set it on his dresser. He sat down, and took his shoe’s off. He was tired. He got up and went to the coffee table- he took the remote control and turned the electric fireplace on. (Note to Readers: I skipped a day, just incase your confused. In the morning it will be the same day/night of Smackdown, and Angela’s debut. Sorry about the confusion!) He quickly got changed and walked to his bed and laid down. He reached over and set his clock for 7:30am. He had to get himself up early so he could go to the gym and work out, before going to the arena for Smackdown the next evening, he also needed to rehearse the script with Angela. He was excited for her to read the script. He stared at the ceiling, thinking about her, he watched the orangey yellow glow from the fireplace dance across the ceiling. Matt sighed snuggling under his blankets. He could feel his eye lids closing. He drifted off to sleep with Angela on his mind.
Matt awoke to the sound of the phone ringing. He groaned as he sat up and rubbed his eye’s turning to look at the clock. It was 1:27am. He was tired. Who could it possibly be at this hour? Jeff he figured. He was kinda sad that Angela hadn’t come up like Jeff had said she might. He sighed as he reached for the phone. He quickly turned the lamp on and sat back.
“Hello?” Matt asked sleepily answering the phone.
He heard giggling, “Matt hi, I’m sorry did I wake you up?” Matt recognized Angela’s voice and sat up.
He cleared his throat, “Ohh Angela, hi, ohh no...” He lied.
Angela giggled, “Matt Hardy your lying to me! I woke you up! I’m sorry.” Angela said softly.
Matt smiled, he sighed, it was nice to hear her voice. He chuckled, “Yeah okay you woke me up, but thats okay. What’s up?” Matt asked lying back down.
He heard her sigh “Nothing, I’m sorry I called you so late, I didn’t think you’d be asleep.....” Angela said softly.
It was then that Matt realised that she sounded sort of different. Matt rubbed his head, “Angela you okay?” Matt asked suddenly concerned.
He heard her breathing, “I’m..... no..... I’m not okay.” Angela said as Matt got to his feet and went to his closet to get some shoe’s.
“What’s wrong?” Matt asked as he pulled a pair of Jeff’s sandal’s onto his feet and went to the bathroom to try and pull his hair into a ponytail and listen to her at the same time.
Matt heard her- she sounded almost like she was crying. Matt’s heart ached. “I”m just nervious I guess, I didn’t want to be alone, and Lita’s not back yet....” Angela said pausing.
“Where’s Lita?” Matt asked remembering that she wasn’t with Jeff.
Angela cleared her throat, “She went to some clubb around 11, I told her I didn’t want to go, so I sat around here doing nothing. I’m sorry I called you, and woke you up, but I just......I dunno, I’m nervious I guess.” Angela said softly.
“Nervous about what?” Matt asked concerned. He listened to the silence and closed his eye’s waiting for her to speak. “Angela are you still there?” Matt asked after getting no answer.
Matt could hear her crying now, he was sure she was. “Matt I........” She didn’t finish what she started to say.
Matt’s stomach ached, he hated to know she was alone, crying and upset. He took a breath, “Angela I want you to come up here!” Matt insisted eager to see her and wipe her tears away. What was wrong? Would she cry if she were nervious about wrestling? What else could she be nervious about? Matt didn’t know.
“Matt, its okay, I’m okay. I just wanted to talk to somebody so I’m not alone.....” Angela started to say when Matt interrupted her.
“I want you to come Angela.....” Matt insisted “I want you to come......” Matt said as he turned the bathroom light off unsuccessful in putting his hair up at the same time. Then he went to the couch, staring into the fire.
Matt heard her crying softly, “Okay Matt I’ll be up in a few minutes, thanks...” She said softly.
Matt sighed, “Good.” Matt said softly as he heard her hang up.
