Chapter 56

The next morning.... Matt awoke to the sound of Jeff snoring. Matt rolled over facing the bed opposite his. Matt rolled his eye’s seeing Jeff asleep, snoring incredibly loud. Matt chuckled as he glanced at the clock on the dresser next to his bed. It was almost 8:30am. Matt quickly yawned and then he jumped out of bed and grabbed some clothes and headed to the bathroom. He knew that Angela was already at the arena with Lita, they were shooting one last backstage segment before they would leave for Canada. Matt wanted to hurry and get over to the arena to try and catch a few moments with her before she left.

A few minutes later, Matt walked into the backstage area of the arena and down towards the locker rooms. Matt was wearing a pair of jeans and a pale blue sweater, with his usual chain and he had his hair pulled back into a ponytail. He wore his black leather jacket, unbuttoned, as he walked past a couple wrestlers who he greeted with friendly smiles. Then Matt stopped for a moment to talk with Jose.

Matt was laughing with Jose when he heard a familiar voice call his. Matt turned and saw Adam standing at the end of the hall. Matt waved and quickly and in a formal way ended his brief conversation with Jose and walked down towards Adam.

"Hey, what’s up?" Matt asked as he started walking with Adam around the corner down another hallway of locker rooms.

Adam grinned and patted his arm. "Not much, I didn’t think you had any taping today." Adam said glancing at Matt as they continued down the hall.

"I have a few segments later today, but I stopped over early to try to see Angela before she leaves with Jay and the other girls." Matt said as Adam shook his head.

"Yeah, a.... we heard a lot about you this morning when we all went out for breakfast before coming here..." Adam said chuckling as Matt stopped walking and turned to look at him.

"Heard what? From who?" Matt asked cautiously as Adam continued to laugh.

"From Angela." Adam said as Matt sighed relieved.

Matt shrugged, "Ohh. Well what did she say?" Matt asked as Adam grinned.

Adam stared at Matt for a moment, the sighed, "Ohh don’t worry she was just telling the girls how she thinks your great, and saying that your sweet and that she really likes you and that kinda thing, I sort of over heard the conversation...." Adam said chuckling. Matt grinned listening contently, "But," Then Adam paused as Matt stared at him a bit nervous again. "I also over heard her saying how she’s confused... she thinks you really like her too. But she’s not sure what kind of relationship you both really have together. She’s not sure if your together or if your just well I guess just friends, but I mean you two kiss each other.... and you act like you are.... actually Matt I’m kinda confused about what kind of relationship you and Angela have exactly too?" Adam asked as they began walking again.

Matt sighed, "I do really like her..." Matt said pausing, "I think she’s great! Adam, I’m gonna say something that I’m only for now telling the guys.... okay?" Matt asked watching Adam’s eye’s light up.

"Yeah sure Matt, I won’t say anything!" Adam said smiling excitedly.

Matt sighed, "I’m going to wait until Christmas Eve, and then I’m planning to ask Angela out.... it’s going to be a surprise okay?!" Matt said smiling at him.

Adam chuckled smiling, "Yeah! Sure Matt I’ll keep it on the down low." Adam said patting Matt’s shoulder.

Matt grinned, "Thanks Adam."

Adam smiled "No problem!" Adam said as they turned another corner, heading out towards the ring.

Matt sighed as he looked around the backstage area, surrounding the curtain to go out into the arena. "Adam where’s Angela?" Matt asked glancing back at Adam who pouring himself a glass of soda.

"Yeah, umm her and Lita are shooting a scene in the ring." Adam said looking at Matt.

Matt raised an eyebrow, "There shooting in the ring? Why? There’s no audience out there." Matt asked confused.

Adam yawned, "Yeah I know. I think Lita said they were taping a pre-show kinda segment, or something like that, Vince added it to their scripts I guess." Adam said shrugging.

Matt shook his head and sighed. "Okay thanks. Hey I’ll see ya later?" Matt asked patting his shoulder.

Adam grinned, "Yeah sure, I’m going to meet Jay and Jeff now, they wanna go down to the catering room and stuff their faces you know." Adam smiled.

Matt grinned, chuckling. "I’ll meet you boys there then in a little while." Matt said as he started through the curtain.

"Okay later!" Adam called as Matt waved as he stepped out into the arena and looked down towards the ring.

Lita was standing infront of the ring with Vince and Angela was standing in the ring with some make-up woman putting some powder on her gorgeous face. Matt grinned as he walked slowly down the ramp and leaned against the wall half way down to watch. Then he saw Jeff sitting at the announcers table with Jr. Matt stared at him for a moment confused. How did Jeff get over here? Matt sighed as he climbed over the wall and made his way around to that side of the arena. He climbed over the wall just as Jeff noticed him.

"Hey Matto!" Jeff said as Matt pulled a chair up and sat down next to him.

"Hi." Matt said grinning as he glanced at Jr and smiled.

Matt looked up to the ring and saw that Angela didn’t know he was there yet, neither did Lita who now was shuffling through papers on the edge of the ring with Vince.

"So what’s goin on? How’d you get here before me? When I left you were sound asleep!?" Matt asked confused.

Jeff grinned, "I heard you in the bathroom and woke and got dressed. Then I left to go down and grab some coffee for you and me, and when I came back I didn’t see you still in the room so I took the van and came straight here. When I got here I didn’t see you and Molly told me that Lita and Angela were down here so I figured maybe I’d find you here but you weren’t here yet." Jeff said as he glanced across the ring toward Lita who looked confused. Matt looked up and saw Angela sitting on the edge of the ring over looking the script with Lita as Vince read it and waved his hands around obviously trying to direct them and telling them how to look or what to do.

"Ohh." Matt said sighing. "So whats up?" Matt asked glancing over at Jeff.

Jeff shrugged, "Nothing really. Its like the third time they’ve done this scene, I dunno Lita’s confused with something, but other then that nothing." Jeff said sitting back as he watched the "meeting" on the other side of the ring.

Matt grinned, "How’s Angie doing?" Matt asked staring over at Angela who was laughing at Vince who was chuckling about something.

Jeff grinned, "Angie?" Jeff asked chuckling.

Matt blushed and rolled his eye’s, "Yeah....How’s she doing?" Matt asked smiling.

Jeff grinned, but it was Jr who answered, "Matt I think she’s great!" Jr replied as Jeff and Matt laughed. "I mean she listens, she pays attention, she’s a great girl. And she can kick some serious Stacey Kiebler ass!" Jr said as Matt and Jeff laughed uncontrollably. "I heard things have sparked between you two so to speak!?" Jr asked as Matt grinned glancing towards Angela who now was standing in the ring, still clueless to the fact that he was there.

Matt shrugged grinning, "Yeah Jr so to speak." Matt said thinking about how great it was and how true.

Jr smiled as he got to his feet picking up some paper work. "I’m happy for you both! Its about darn time you found someone!" Jr said as Jeff laughed an Matt shook his head chuckling.

"Someone who agrees with me!" Jeff mumbled through his laughter. Matt shook his head and elbowed him still grinning.

"Thanks Jr, I think!" Matt said as Jr patted his shoulder and started to walk away.

"Later boys, good luck Matt!" Jr said as he waved a hand and walked away.

Jeff leaned his head against Matt’s shoulder and laughed holding onto his side. "Ohh Matt dude that was funny!" Jeff said rubbing his forehead his face red from laughing so hard.

"Jeff shut up I beg you!" Matt said chuckling himself.

Jeff laughed for a few more moments and then sighed. Matt started to say something to Jeff when he heard Vince yell to everyone that they were taking a break from this scene and Matt looked around to find the crew and technical people scatter around in all directions. He stretched as he looked up to the ring and saw Angela run her fingers through her hair obviously troubled, as Lita climbed into the ring and they stood talking to each other.

"I could be wrong, but I think Angela might need some comforting she looks really stressed...." Jeff said as he touched Matt’s shoulder and walked over to the side of the ring and called Lita’s name. Matt watched Lita finish saying something to Angela and turn and walk out of the ring following Jeff.

Matt sighed as he stood and walked around the table leaning against it watching Angela who was standing alone in the ring. He frowned seeing the stress in her face. Matt glanced around, there were only a few lighting technicians working on the lights at the top of the ramp, everyone else had gone from ring side.

Matt stared at Angela watching as she rubbed her forehead, her eye’s closed, taking deep breaths. She was wearing a pink tank top and a pair of faded jeans and she was bare foot. Her hair long brown hair fell around her, and she looked like she was shivering, but she still looked just as beautiful as she always did. Matt cleared his throat and walked to the edge of the ring and leaned against it looking up at Angela as she opened her eye’s and sighed. Suddenly she must have noticed him because she turned and with a smile she stared down at Matt.

"Hi." Matt said softly as he jumped up and climbed into the ring.

Angela grinned and spoke softly, "Hey. What are you doing here?" Angela asked as Matt took a step closer to her.

Matt sighed, "I woke up and I wanted to see you before you leave today." Matt said as he reached for her hand.

Angela grinned, "So how long have you been here?" She asked as Matt squeezed her hand.

Matt shrugged, "Long enough to know that something’s bothering you...." Matt whispered as he stepped closer to her and slide his arms around her.

Angela sighed meeting his eye’s. "Is it that obvious?" Angela asked smiling at Matt.

Matt grinned, "Yes." He said shaking his head. "You wanna tell me about it?" Matt asked quietly touching her cheek gently.

Angela took a deep breath and pushed a strand of her hair away from her eye’s. "I don’t think I’m doing very well, I think that Vince is annoyed because I can’t seem to get my lines down." Angela said frowning.

Matt frowned and took a breath, "Don’t worry about it, I’ll help you with them this week okay?" Matt asked smiling at her.

Angela sighed and shook her head. "Yeah okay." She said shrugging.

Matt groaned, "Ohh come on Angie, please, smile for me!" Matt said watching Angela blush, her smile finally returning to her face.

Matt grinned. "There’s that smile I love so much!" Matt whispered as Angela giggled and leaned over and kissed Matt quickly.

Matt stared at her and grinned- she wasn’t getting away that easily. Matt smiled and leaned over an kissed her lips gently. He held her tight and after a moment Matt felt Angela relax against him and she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him back.

After a few moments Matt spoke softly whispering against Angela’s lips. "I hate knowing your leaving....." Matt whispered as Angela opened her eye’s and looked up meeting his eye’s.

Angela smiled, "I know.... I do to Matt. But Wednesday is only 48 hours away, and then we’ll be warm at the lodge together, I think of that to look forward to! Angela said softly giggling.

Matt smiled, "I’ll look forward to that!" Matt whispered as he kissed Angela again. Angela had no idea how much Matt was looking forward to it.
