Chapter 11

Matt must have had been deep in thought because when he opened his eyes he was startled to see Jessica standing in front of him.

“Matt are you okay?” She asked looking down at him concerned. Matt sighed. He grinned up at her. Matt reached out taking her hand.

He shook his head. “Yeah, I’m okay....” Matt said softly, when Jessica broke in.

“Matt,” Jessica said softly sitting down next to him. He turned and looked at her, “Matt your not alright, I’ve been standing here for a while and you had no idea I was even in the same room. What’s wrong?” Jessica asked touching his arm.

Matt glanced down at her hand on his arm and sighed, closing his eyes. Matt didn’t speak for a long time. He could feel Jessica’s eyes on him. Finally Matt decided it was time to tell her everything. He looked up at her and met her eyes.

“Jessie....” Matt started to speak as her eyes sparkled back at his.

Matt stared at her, he realized he couldn’t do it, not yet. He couldn’t risk losing her yet!

He shook his head looking down. He tried to think; he said the first thing that popped into his head. “I’m just a little tired that’s all. I’m sorry.” Matt said rubbing his head.

“Who was on the phone?” Jessica asked quietly standing as she walked towards the fireplace.

Matt sighed, “It was just someone from my work, they wanted to call and check to see when I was coming back, they needed me to work a day for them but I won’t be back in time for when they need me.” He said watching Jessica as she turned and looked at him with skeptical looking eyes.

She shook her head unsure whether to believe him, but decided to take his word for it. Matt looked down away from her and continued rubbing his head. He looked up again when he heard Jessica’s voice.

She was walking towards the door. “Matt you’re really tired, I’m gonna go....”

Matt was on his feet and in front of her before she had even realized he had moved.

“No!” Matt shouted holding his hands out, “Please Jessica don’t go. I’m fine.” he paused, “I’m just tired, I had a tiring day, I need you, I want you to stay.... please, stay with me!” Matt begged softly.

Jessica stared at him, wanting to stay. She looked down and took a deep breath. Jessica took a step closer to him and stopped. Matt’s heart and head ached, why had things gotten so crazy? Matt reached out and slid his arms around Jessica’s waist.

“I’ll stay.” She whispered snuggling against him. “I want to!” She said closing her eyes. Matt held her close to him not wanting to let go.

Matt started to speak, “I’m sorry Jessie, about the phone and then....”Matt broke off when Jessica reached up and set her fingerss against Matt’s lips.

“Shhh, don’t apologize!” Jessica whispered.

Matt grinned at her. She let her fingurers fall to his cheek as her eyes studied his. Matt leaned close to her face, brushing a quick kiss across her lips. Then he smiled down at her. Jessica sighed and leaned over and kissed him gently.

After a few minutes, Matt released her and they went over to the couch. Jessica sat close to Matt snuggling against him. Matt looked down at her and brushed her bangs away from her eyes, letting his hand touch her cheek.

“So what shall we do?” Matt asked smiling viciously at her. Jessica giggled.

“Well I can think of one thing....” She said kissing his cheek. Matt chuckled.

“Well you know I love that idea, but I was referring to, are we eating in or going out?” Matt asked touching a strand of her long hair smiling.

Jessica shrugged. “Why do we have to go out? We’re alone...” She said smiling as she kissed Matt again. Matt kissed her back quickly.

“Jessie,” Matt paused as Jessica looked at him with curious eyes. “We can stay if you want to, but wouldn’t you like to eat, I know I’m starving. And for not only you but for some food too!” Matt said as Jessica giggled.

She smiled up at him, “Well then Matt perhaps you would like to satisfy your craving for me first and then your stomach…” Jessica said pausing as she kissed him again. How could Matt resist her, it wasn’t possible too? He gave in.

After about an hour or so, Matt let go of Jessica, who was half sitting, and half lying across the couch. Matt rose and went over to the phone to dial room sevice to order them a romantic dinner for two. They had been making out for so long that Matt was even more exhausted then he had been earlier that night. Room service told Matt that their food would be up shortly. Jessica had told Matt she was going to the bathroom again, just as the doorbell rang. Matt froze. Who could that be? Matt took a deep breathe, smoothing down his shirt and went to answer the door.

“Hello!” Matt asked as he opened the door. To Matt’s surprise Jeff was standing there!

“What the hell are you doing back?” Matt asked shutting the door behind him as he stepped out into the hallway.

“I needed to get some more money, me and Jay and Adam are gonna go see Wayne Newton, and I need more money then I have.” Jeff said staring at Matt as he glanced towards the door. “Wheres Jessica?” Jeff asked looking back at Matt.

“She’s in the bathroom.” Matt said softly.

“You two having fun?” Jeff asked.

Matt stared at him. “Yeah.” Matt said bluntly.

“Good, can I get some money or not?” Jeff asked.

“Yeah I’ll get your wallet. Where is it?” Matt asked looking at Jeff.

“Its on my dresser.” Jeff said leaning against the wall.

“I’ll be right back.” Matt said turning back into the room. Jessica was still in the bathroom. Matt grabbed Jeff’s wallet and went back into the hallway. He handed Jeff his wallet.

“Thanks Matt, sorry if I bothered you.” Jeff said with a guilty look on his face.

“No, she’s still in the bathroom. You didn’t bother us, but I just didn’t expect you.” Matt said softly.

“How are things going?” Jeff asked softly.

Matt sighed, “Good.” He said shrugging.

“You don’t look so good.... Matt, you okay?” Jeff asked patting his shoulder.

“Yeah, I’m just a little upset that’s all.” Matt said looking at Jeff.

“Why?” Jeff asked.

Just then Matt heard Jessica calling to him.

“I’ll tell you later okay? I gotta go.” Matt said quickly glancing at Jeff.

“Yeah sure dude, have fun, later!” Jeff said as he turned and left. Matt sighed going back into his room. Jessica turned around and looked at him.

“Is the food here?” Jessica asked leaning against the back of the couch.

“No,” Matt said stretching. “It was one of my friends, he needed his wallet.” Matt said grinning at her.

Jessica shook her head, walking over towards the sliding glass door that Matt had opened, to get some fresh air earlier. She pushed it open more and stepped outside. Matt closed his eyes. Lita had made him so mad, that know he was acting weird towards Jessica and he hated it. He sighed and followed her. He slid the door closed as he watched her looking out into the sky.

Matt walked towards her quietly and slid his arms around her waist. She wasn’t startled; she just glanced back at him. Matt smiled down at her. She turned and looked back out into the night. Matt held her close to him.

Neither of them spoke for a long time, then Jessica asked, “When are you leaving Matt?” She asked so softly. Matt looked at her face and saw her eyes were closed.

Matt sighed heavily. The WWF wasn’t leaving Vegas for 2 weeks, and Matt had to work 6 times between now and then. The thought hit Matt hard, only seeming to make him more upset. How could he leave her? Even though Matt had only known Jessica less then 2 days, he could feel himself falling for her, and falling for her hard! Maybe she was falling for him too. What was Matt going to do now? How could he tell her? He knew he had to, but he didn’t want to lose her for anything in the world!

Jessie, I’m leaving in 2 weeks,” Matt said as he watched her lips frown, then he saw her open her eyes and look back at him, turning in his arms.

“That’s so soon.” She said quietly. Matt frowned shaking his head yes.

“Well at least we can see each other a lot, hopefully.” Jessica said looking up at Matt with eyes so beautiful Matt had to stare at them.

“I hope.” Matt whispered.

She smiled at him. Then she kissed him quickly. “Are you feeling any better yet?” Jessica asked touching a strand of Matt’s long dark, curly hair.

Matt chuckled, “Yeah, you didn’t leave....you’re here.....I’m fine.” Matt said smiling at her. Jessica leaned in to kiss him as the doorbell rang again. Matt groaned as Jessica giggled at him. He let her go as she followed him back inside. Matt went over to get the door.

He opened the door as room service entered with a cart full of the food Matt had ordered. Matt thanked them and went to lock the door. Matt turned back to see Jessica open one of the trays. She smiled as she looked down at a delicious looking cherry pie.

“Ohh that looks really good!” Jessica said laughing, “I can’t wait to have a piece of that!” She said smiling back at Matt.

Matt chuckled, as he pushed the cart into the dinning area part of the room, and set the plates on the table. Jessica helped. Matt pulled a chair out for her and she sat smiling up at him. Matt left for the kitchen to get some wine and some expensive glasses, and a few long candles and more matches.

They took their time eating, talking about different things, the food, the music, things about themselves, Matt was concentrating very hard not to say anything about the WWF. Nothing could have been more perfect. Matt watched Jessica, it seemed like he always noticed something new about her. She was so awesome. He found himself thinking that he should always come home to this, it was just so right to have her with him. There were times when they found themselves just staring at each other.

After dinner Matt poured more wine and they toasted to the 2 weeks they had left together, they both were fairly quiet. It was about 9:30. The conversation slowed, and Matt couldn’t help thinking about how hard telling her everything would be? How hard it would be to leave her! Matt decided to try and focus his attention onto something else. Like Jessica. They went back to making out on the couch.

It had be great, all evening, there were no interruptions, nothing, no phone, no one rang the door bell, they were alone, just how they liked it. It was well after 1 in the morning when Matt got up and sat watching Jessica. She had fallen asleep in his arms, as they had been snuggling on the couch. Matt knew she had to go, he had a show in the morning, so he needed sleep. He hated to wake her but what other choice did he have? Matt sighed, it was going to be hell to tell her and then leave her! Matt rubbed his head, he was he was falling for her and he knew deep down that he shouldn’t, but he was. Matt’s hair had been taken out of his ponytail while he and Jessica were making out, and he pulled in back and smiled down at her sleeping so peacefully. He sighed.

“Jessie....” Matt whispered touching her cheek. “Jessie wake up.” Matt said softly smiling at her as she opened her eyes sleepily and looked up at Matt with a curious look on her face.

“Huh?” She asked sitting up.

Matt chuckled. “Come on, I’ll drive you home, so you can go to sleep, you’re tired.” She groaned.

Matt smiled “Come on get up sleepy head!” Matt said kissing her cheek.

“No!” She said hugging him. Matt chuckled. He sighed, hugging her.

Do you want me to drive you home?” Matt asked pulling her slowly to her feet.

She snuggled against him and mumbled sleepily, “No, I’ll drive!”

Matt laughed. “Jessie how are you gonna drive, you didn’t drive yourself here, you were dropped off, remember, you told me yourself!?” Matt said chuckling.

“Ahuh,” Jessica mumbled.

Matt had no choice he had to do something to wake her up. He touched her cheek, and bent down and kissed her. Immediately Jessica responded kissing him back. He knew instantly from the change in her hold around him that she was wide-awake now. Matt ended the kiss pulling his head back and looking at her. Jessica stared at him looking confused.

“Matt?” She asked yawning.

“Yeah?” Matt said with an amused look on his face.

“I think I should go, I’m kinda tired...” She said softly.

“Yeah okay.” Matt mumbled, as he started to chuckle softly.

She smiled at him seeming sleepy again.

I’ll call you a cab.” Matt said kissing her cheek and letting her go as he walked over to the phone near his bed.

When he returned Jessica was sitting on the couch, looking at the fireplace. Matt knelt down in front of her, as she looked at him.

Cab’s gonna be here shortly...” Matt said taking her hands and holding them gently.

She smiled. “Okay.” She said sighing.

“Did a......you have a good time tonight?” Matt asked staring in wonder at her.

She shook her head, “Yeah I did, I had a great time....did you?” She asked as Matt let go of one of her hands and brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear.

“Yeah of course I did,” Matt said touching her cheek.

“I’m glad.” She said smiling.

“Jessie I’m kinda busy with some stuff tomorrow till around 5ish, do you wanna do something tomorrow night?” Matt asked staring at her.

Jessica smiled and shook her head. “Yeah, do you wanna come over tomorrow night, and I’ll cook you dinner?” She asked looking a little excited now. But then she added, “My house is right on the beach just outta town, and we can go for a moonlit walk on the beach after dinner! It would be so romantic, and you’d love it!” She said excitedly.

Matt chuckled, “it sounded just fine to him. Perfect in fact. “Yeah that would be great! Your gonna cook for me?” Matt asked feeling special.”

“Ohh yeah, I don’t mind, I want to! You’ll love it!” She said smiling as she leaned over and kissed him.

“Well in that case then sure, I can’t wait!” Matt said laughing.

“Ohh Matt we’ll have so much fun!” She said giggling.

Matt laughed as he leaned over and kissed her as he pulled her to her feet. She wrapped her arms around him and giggled against his lips.

When the hotel front desk called to say that the taxi had arrived, so Jessica grabbed her purse as her and Matt left to go to the elevator. They kissed all the way down. Matt walked Jessica outside and bid her farewell with a few kisses and held her gently. She kissed him and said goodnight, Matt told her he’d call as soon as he could so they could figure out all the details about there plans for the next night.

They kissed again quickly and Matt waved as the cab pulled away. Matt sighed and went back up to his room. When he got inside he took a quick shower, and decided to get changed and went to lie down. He was so tired and confused and happy all at the same time. He didn’t have time to think to much he fell asleep because he was to exhausted to think about anything.
