Chapter 31

The rest of his stay in Las Vegas was hell, Matt felt horrible and was very unhappy. Matt called Jessica one last time at the airport Thursday night before they left. Matt got her answering machine. He apologized again and told her he loved her, and hoped that he would see her again someday, he just wanted her to love him back.

Four months later...

Things had gotten back to normal. Matt had even reconciled with Lita and they became friends again. Jeff and Matt had become the tag team champions again, and life was steadily becoming normal. The nights were hard though. Matt often lay awake thinking about Jessica, he hadn’t seen or talked to her since that night. He missed her horribly. He still loved her, but around Jeff, Adam and Jay he tried not to show it, the subject never came up after they left Las Vegas.

The WWF was doing a show in Phoenix, Arizona. It was Monday night, and Matt was sitting in his locker room getting ready for his up coming match when Jeff came in.

“Hey” Jeff said smiling at him as he went to the cooler and got himself a beer.

Matt glanced at him and grinned, “Hey.” Matt said sighing as he sat down to begin taping his wrists.

Jeff came over and sat down next to him. Matt had finished with the tape and threw it over to the floor near his bag. Matt rubbed his head thinking. Phoenix wasn’t far from Vegas or Jessica, Matt wondered if he could drive there after the show and see her. They were gonna be in Phoenix for a few days so Matt wondered if he could get up his nerve to go see her. He wanted to see her badly, just to hear her voice would be enough for him. Matt sat there quietly, he could feel Jeff’s eyes on him, and glanced over at him. “What?” Matt asked staring back at Jeff.

“I dunno, I just wondered what you were thinking about. Jessica I wonder.” Jeff said softly as he stood to throw his empty beer can away.

Matt frowned sighing, “Jeff I don’t stop thinking about her. It doesn’t matter. I can’t see her, she doesn’t want me, I have to get used to that.” Matt said as he stood stretching.

Matt heard Jeff mumble something and turned to look at him, “What’d you say Jeff?” Matt asked staring at him.

“I just asked if you were sure about that,” Jeff said as he sighed.

Matt frowned, “I wish I could tell you.” Matt said quietly.

“Matt what would you say to her if you saw her?” Jeff asked as he sat back down on the couch.

Matt shrugged, slowly he smiled, “I’d tell her anything she wanted to hear! I love her that’s all I’d be able to say besides that I’m totally sorry.” Matt said as his mind flash backed to that night in the living room with her, the night Matt gave his heart away to her. He smiled remembering what he said to her, remembering how she looked, how she felt. Then he frowned remembering the terms he left Vegas on, knowing he’d lost her. He sighed.

Jeff sighed, “Matt I know she loved you, if you don’t know that your as bad off as you like people to think!” Jeff said softly.

Matt sighed. “I dunno.” Matt said rubbing his head, “I just miss her, I only know I love her...” Matt said softly watching Jeff smile at him. “Why are we talking about this anyway?” Matt asked pulling his hair out of its lose ponytail.

Jeff shrugged, “I was just curious.” Jeff said softly.

Matt sighed.

Just then there was a knock at the door. Matt glanced at Jeff. Jeff frowned, “I’ll get it!” Jeff said rolling his eyes at Matt.

Matt stuck his tongue out at him and sat down.

Jeff had just opened the door a crack when Jay and Adam ran into the room and were kneeling in front of Matt in seconds. Matt stared at them surprised, and confused.

“Guys what’s going on?” Matt asked glancing at Jeff who had closed the door and was walking towards the couch.

“Matt dude, Jessica is here!” Jay said staring at him. Matt’s eyes went wide.

“What?!” Matt asked standing. Jay and Adam got to there feet.
