Chapter 14
The club moment was now a memory, as I sat, once again on my hotel balcony, late that same night. There was a warm Texas breeze blowing through, making me somewhat drowsy, as I propped my bare feet up on the railing. My sexy dress was off and I wore my comfy PJ pants and tank top. My curly hair was piled up on top of my head. My face was plain once again, as I had taken off all the makeup and replace it with my wire-framed glasses. I had wondered with those questions, as I sat deep in thought. My eyes were also beginning to droop once again, from being exhausted. I had just closed my eyes when I heard a faint knock at my door. I turned to see Jeff standing there, leaning against the sliding glass doors with his arms folded across his bare chest. He also wore plaid PJ bottoms and slip on Adidas sandals.
"Hey Jeff, take a seat, wha's on your mind?" I wearily asked, patting the seat next to me.
"I couldn't sleep, and I knew you would be awake to talk to, so I let myself in." He replied, taking the seat next to me. I nodded.
We sat in silence for a few minutes before we started our conversation.
"So, what's going on between you and Matt?" He asked first.
"That's the whole problem, I don't know, I like being with him, I like being close to him, but I've only known him for a few days, so I couldn't possibly be falling in love with him..." I trailed off.
"Why not? Don't you believe in "love at first sight", or fate maybe?" He asked.
"Yeah, I used to, but I never thought it would happen to me." I replied.
"Well, it has, don't let it go, you might never have that experience ever again." He said wisely.
"Did you ever watch wrestling before you came to work for the Federation?" He continued.
"Yeah, all the time... to be honest, I fell in love with Matt from the first time I saw him come down the ramp, dark and mysterious." I said, laughing a little, at my memory.
"But, then when I finally met him, I couldn't let him know that I still liked him, I had to hide my feelings, so that's why I've been so cold towards him, I never expected him to take a liking to me." I stopped for a moment.
"Really, why not, there's nothing about you my brother wouldn't like, even if you were a little cold to him, that makes it more exciting, he had this need to find out why you were being that way to him, it attracted him more than anything." Jeff told me.
"He wants to know what you see in him that makes you like him so much."
"Well, I could go on for days about that one." I laughed.
"Okay, seriously, I'm just attracted to him in this incredible way. From the moment I saw him on TV, I knew that we were connected to each other, and that one day I would marry him." I said, staring out over the balcony.
"Jeff, am I crazy?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"Not at all, I think it's beautiful." He said, looking at me with soft eyes.
"Thanks, I don't feel so bad now, and there's just something in his eyes, his dark chocolate eyes, I could always see myself there deep within his soul." I continued, trying to release some of my pent up passion.
"So, Jeff, why haven't you told Amy that you like her?" I asked, suddenly changing the subject.
"Huh?" He looked at me with wide stunned eyes.
"Yes, don't look at me like that, I know you like Amy, I saw it tonight in your eyes, when you were slow dancing with her, you like her so much, but I must say you hide it well." I said.
He sighed, "Yeah, I do like her, but I know that she doesn't like me back." He said softly looking down at his knees.
"Jeff, you sound like your back in high school, just tell her, you never know, she might like you back, take some of your own advice, an experience like this might never happen again." I told him, patting his bare shoulder.
"I don't know how." He sounded like he was almost in tears.
"Yes you do, Jeff you've known Amy for how many years now, its just a matter of doing it at the right moment. Take her out to dinner, or maybe we could go to the club again, then you could do it there, while your slow dancing." I suggested.
"But what if she doesn't like me, I couldn't take that rejection." He said.
"Jeffrey Nero Hardy, I'm surprised at you, you seem so take charge, not letting anything stop you, and when it comes down to Amy you're wimpy." I said sternly.
"I know, it's awful." He replied.
"Well, you have to overcome your fear, just like I did, remember when you made me go dance with Matt, and look how it turned out, we shared an incredible dance that will never forget, we probably would have kissed to, but the power surge had to kill the moment." I told him.
"You have a point. Maria, thanks so much for talking with me about this, I could never talk with Matt about this." Jeff said.
"Sure, no problem, and Jeff, just between you and me, Amy does like you, I saw the passion in her eyes too." I said.
"How do you know?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"How did I know that you liked Amy, I don't know its a gift. I have a way of seeing people differently, in high school I could always tell which of my friends would marry who and, I haven't been wrong so far, and now I guess I'm right about Matt and I." I told him.
"Unbelievable, well, Miss Maria, I'm going to get some sleep, thank you so much, you're amazing." Jeff hugged me tightly, and let himself out.
"No problem, thanks for listening to me too, see you in the morning, night." I waved a little as he headed off the balcony and out the door back to his own room.
