Chapter 48
A month had passed since the last time Matt and I spoke. It had been over two months since the last time I had actually seen him. It was October, I had been back teaching as well. it felt good to be back in a routine. Everything with school was going great, but I couldn't help but think of Matt all the time. Today was the last day of their Pennsylvania tour. They were ending their night in Philadelphia. Only an hour away from my door. I argued with myself about whether or not to go down after the show, or just stay at home and let the moment pass.
"I don't know what to do, Amy, should I take a trip up to see Maria, or let the moment pass?" Matt leaned his head against his locker where he was changing after a long day of promos and one grueling match in the ring.
"I can't tell you what to do Matt, I can't answer that, you have to decide that on your own." Amy replied, flipping her red hair over her shoulder.
"...(sigh)...Well, then I know what I have to do..." Matt said, gathering his things and heading for the door.
"Do what...Matthew...come back here!" Amy scolded and crossed her arms over her chest. "I knew it, he's defintely in love." she said to herself, shaking her head and smiling.
"Where is Matt off to in such a hurry?" Jeff asked, heading into the dressing room.
"He's following his heart." Amy replied packing up her things.
"And that is supposed to mean...what?" Jeff asked, raising an eyebrow towards her.
"Nothing, never mind, are you ready to go?" she asked.
"No, no, what do you mean by that, Amy tell me, because if Matt is going to see Maria, she's not going to be there, because she is coming down here to surprise him. She called and asked if we were going to be here for awhile yet. I told her that we were staying overnight and leaving tomorrow morning, so it would be fine if she came down." Jeff said.
"What? Yeah, that's where he is going. He decided to go up there and surprise her. So they are going to miss each other! Quick, we have to stop him!" Amy said wided eyed and bolted for the door. Jeff rushed afer her.
"Oh, we're too late, he's already gone." Jeff said, pushing the back door open and seeing the tail lights of Matt's rental car burning rubber through the parking lot heading for the highway. "Now what?" he asked.
"I don't know. We can't let them miss each other." Amy said following Matt's car with her eyes.
"Oh, wait, maybe Matt has his cell phone on, I'll try." Jeff said, pulling his own phone from the pocket of his cargo pants. "C'mon Matt, pick up the phone...damn it, he has it turned off. The voice mail came on." Jeff said, turning his phone back off. "Now what?" he asked.
"Call Maria, see if she left yet." Amy suggested.
"Alright, good idea." Jeff replied, pulling out his phone again. "She's not home either, I got her answering machine."
"Well, when Maria shows up we'll just tell her to wait here until Matt comes back, what else can we do?" Amy said.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, not much else we can do." Jeff replied.
"Yup, let's head back inside."
