Chapter 1
Sab woke to a start. She groaned as she rolled over to reach her telephone…
“Hello?” she waited a second, but could not hear anything on the other line.
Thinking the person did not hear her, she again said, “Hello?” this time
louder.
She heard muffled noises and heavy breathing, but she couldn’t quite make
out what they were saying.
She took this lightly however, shrugging it off, she hung up the phone.
*Ring*
She jumped, startled. She stared at the phone. She reached over and slowly
lifted it up saying, “Hello?!” this time with anger in her voice. Nothing.
Then came the muffled noises.
“Listen you! If your not going to speak like a normal human being, then
don’t call to talk!”
“Why should I talk like something I’m not?” the dark, masculine voice
questioned.
Blood ran cold through her fingers as she slammed the phone down on its
receiver. She stared at the phone blankly. It rang again and she slowly
backed away.
After about ten rings she finally went over to it and unplugged it. She
figured that she would leave it that way for a while.
Sabrina, Sab for short, walked into the kitchen and grabbed an apple from
the bowl on the table, and started to eat it.
She thought about the person who called. Even if it was a kid playing a
joke, she did not need that kind of stress on her, work was difficult on her
writing career, and after writing and publishing so many books, she needed a
new idea.
*Ring*
She screamed, and dropped her apple. Impossible! I unplugged the phone!. She
walked over lifting up the cord, that sure enough, was not in the telephone
plug.
“What the fuck…..Hello?” her voice quavered.
“Don’t be afraid, Sab.” The dark, masculine voice said, “ You have the time
to understand, they will all understand. Understanding is only a matter of
time…”
She gasped, it couldn’t be. “Alright asshole! Who are you and why do you
keep calling me…and why are…you…talking…to…me…when…the…phone…is…unplugged…?”
“You know the answer to all those questions, who I am…where I am…”
She stared around her house, *knock*, “AHHH!” her heart raced… she slowly
put the phone down and walked to the door. She walked around the corner of
her living room… and stopped short, the door was wide open.
She heard a noise behind her and turned quickly, there in front of her was a
man with long dirty blonde hair. He wore a black leather trenchcoat, leather
pants, no shirt and a pair of silver sunglasses.
She backed away hoping to get to the door, it slammed in her face and she
couldn’t turn the knob.
“How… you can’t be!” she screamed as he approached her.
He grinned, the same devilish grin he used on the TV “I am and I am not,” he
whispered while tucking a piece of her auburn hair behind her ear. “Now you
will understand…” he reached his hand out to her forehead, ”Sleep…” he
cooed, as she fell he caught her, the last thing she saw before the room
went black was a thin bluish mist that seemed to envelope her very being,
her very soul.
