Chapter 3
Jason rolled around his hard hotel bed restlessly. Rolling onto his back and letting out a loud sigh he looked up at the white ceiling. It was so empty, just white, plain, just like how he felt.
He sat up in a sudden movement with an aggravated groan and looked at the watch on his wrist. 3:30 a.m., he shook his hand annoyed, sleep was out of the question at this point.
He quickly climbed out of the bed and groggily walked to the hotel bathroom, turning the hot water on in the shower and running his hand under it. Quickly turning it off and shaking his head, he sat on the toilet seat with his face in his hands. Bringing his hands up to his face and rubbing his face miserably he stood up slowly and walked back into the bedroom area of the hotel room. Flopping onto the bed he closed his eyes again, hoping to fall asleep, but knew it was beyond impossible. Opening his eyes and rolling over he looked at the brown phone on the side table he quickly picked it up and dialed the number he knew so well.
“Hello?” a woman asked sleepily after the 4th ring, obviously annoyed at getting woken up at 3:30 am.
Jason went to say something, but felt his voice get lost in his throat. He tightened his grip on the phone and held it close to his ear.
“Hello?” Tessa repeated angrily, the sleepiness out of her voice and replaced with pure annoyance, “whoever the hell this is has some nerve to call at 3 am, wake me up, and not even say anything!”
“Well you have a lot of nerve to throw our whole relationship away!” Jason said angrily not even realizing what he was saying.
“Jay?” Tessa questioned.
Jason didn’t say anything as he sat shocked. What in earth compelled him to call her? What made him reply to her?
“Jay? You there?” Tessa asked, “I think we need to talk…”
Jason didn’t hear what else she had to say as he slammed the phone down angrily.
“Damnit,” Jason said rubbing his eyes, “I need to get the hell out of here.”
Jason looked around his hotel room, as if looking for a suggestion. Quickly standing up pulling on a t-shirt and grabbing the hotel key, sticking it into the pants of his sweat pants and walking out the door.

Amy yawned as she made her way across her hotel room and towards the door where the relentless knocking was going on. She looked at her watch, 3:45 am.
“This better be important,” Amy mumbled to herself, as she reached the door and opened it.
“Jay?” Amy asked surprised as she opened her hotel door, “what are you doing here?”
“Remember how you said that the offer to talk was still there?” Jay asked with a small smile.
“Yeah?” Amy replied confused and tired.
“Can I take you up on it now?” Jay asked, his eyes pleading.
Amy smiled at Jay as he looked at her with a hopeful smile. The nervousness on his face made him look like a little kid. Amy stepped aside and opened the door wider for Jay to step inside.
“Come on in and I’ll get dressed,” Amy said, grabbing some clothes out of her suitcase, “I’m sure the hotel restaurant will still be open, we’ll go talk there.”
Jason smiled as he watched Amy walk towards the bathroom. It was obvious she was exhausted, but she was still concerned about her friend. Jay looked at her in her black tank top and flannel pants, her hair up in a ponytail.
“Amy,” Jason said as she started to walk into the bathroom.
“Yeah?” she asked, turning around.
“Thanks,” Jason replied, “this means a lot to me.”
“Anything for a friend,” Amy said with a smile as she walked into the bathroom and shut the door.

“I really thought she was the one I could spend the rest of my life with,” Jason said sadly as he finished telling Amy about Tessa, “I really thought she was the one.”
“I’m sorry,” Amy replied, “I had no idea…”
“I’m just so aggravated,” Jason replied, “I wish I would have known so I could have stopped it.”
“There’s nothing you could do sweetie,” Amy said soothingly, “What would you do, give up wrestling?”
“Maybe I could…” Jason started, then shook his head as he looked at Amy’s face, “you’re right. I couldn’t.”
“People don’t understand what we go through,” Amy said softly, “it makes it really hard to have a relationship when you’re in a profession like this.”
“You can’t date in the business either,” Jay replied, “you can vouch for that.”
“I guess I can,” Amy said thinking about the short term relationship she had with Matt Hardy when she first arrived at the WWF. Although they were good friends now, and even played a couple on WWF programming their break-up had been a hard thing for her to handle since they worked with each other day in and day out.
“You can’t date in the business, you can’t date out the business,” Jason sighed.
“I guess you just need to find someone who understands,” Amy replied softly.
“I just thought she understood!” Jason said hitting the table with his fist, causing their coffee mugs to shake, “she knew I loved her, she knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, but she knew how much wrestling meant to me!”
“I don’t know what to tell you,” Amy replied honestly, “I really wish I knew what to say.”
“Just having you listen helps,” Jason said, looking up from his coffee cup, “It’s good to have someone who will listen.”
“Well, I’m glad I could help,” Amy laughed.
“Do you want to go back to bed?” Jason asked looking at his watch that read 4:30 am, “I feel really bad for waking you up so early.”
“Nah, I’m up now,” Amy replied, “I don’t think I’d be able to fall back asleep.”
“Then how about another cup of coffee sounds?” Jason asked with a smile, “on me of course.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Amy laughed as Jay signaled the single waitress in the small restaurant over.
“You kids are up early,” the gray haired woman said, filling both their coffee mugs.
“Early bird gets the worm,” Amy said with a smile, quoting the old proverb, “and I like worms.”
“worms… yummy…” Jason said with a grin.
The waitress smiled at them oddly and walked away quickly as Jay and Amy looked at each other and burst out laughing.
“Worms?” Jason asked with a grin.
“Yummy?” Amy replied, still laughing.
“You have one weird sense of humor Aimes,” Jason said with a smile.
“As do you,” Amy joked, raising her mug, “here’s to the start of a great friendship.”
“Right on,” Jay laughed touching his mug gently to Amy’s.
