Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“So you’re going out with Jay tonight?” Nora asked as she pulled on a hoodie over her t-shirt.
“Yeah,” Amy said with a smile, looking at her friend who was better known as Molly, “he’s taking me out to thank me for helping him through the Tessa situation.”
“You like him, don’t you?” Nora asked with a mischievous smile.
“No,” Amy said shaking her head.
“You can’t lie to your best friend,” Nora laughed, “Come on, just admit it.”
Amy looked around the empty woman’s locker room. Sequined tank tops and heels were tossed around the room, and Amy could hear the shower running where she knew Trish was, but other then that it was just her and Nora in the locker room.
“Ok,” Amy whispered with a little laugh, “I’m really starting to like him. We’ve just grown really close.”
“I knew it!” Nora squealed, jumping up, “I knew it!”
“Nora, don’t say anything!” Amy begged, “even if I do, I don’t know how he feels and I don’t want to jeopardize our friendship.”
“Alright,” Nora nodded, “My lips are sealed.”
“Good,” Amy replied with a smile, “How does this look?”
“Really nice,” Nora said as Amy turned around in her black flare pants and tight red tank top, “it looks great with your hair.”
“Ok,” Amy sighed, running a hand through her still damp hair, “I’m gonna blow dry my hair then go meet Jay.”
“Ok, well good luck,” Nora said with a smile, “Have fun.”
“Thanks,” Amy replied as she plugged in the blow-dryer and Nora walked out, leaving her alone in the locker room. Amy quickly grabbed a brush and started running it through her hair as she turned on the blowdryer.
“Hey,” Amy turned around to face her good friend Trish Stratus wearing a pair of jeans and sweatshirt, her hair up in a towel wrapped around her head.
“Nice job tonight,” Amy said turning off the blow dryer and looking at Trish.
“You too,” Trish replied, looking Amy over quickly.
“What?” Amy asked self-consciously, realizing Trish’s gaze on her.
“Leave your hair curly,” Trish answered, “it’ll look better.”
“You sure?” Amy questioned, turning to look into the mirror.
“Definitely,” Trish said, digging something out of her gym bag and tossing it at Amy, “use this gel, it’ll make your curls look hot.”
“Thanks,” Amy replied with a smile, opening the bottle and scrunching her hair.
“Why are you so worried about looking so good anyways? It’s just the Outback.” Trish asked, digging out her makeup bag and applying some foundation, concentrating in the mirror adjacent to Amy’s.
“I’m not going to the Outback tonight,” Amy replied, not able to hide a small smile.
“You’re not?” Trish asked, suddenly looking intrigued as she arched an eyebrow at Amy, “where are you going then?”
“Just out with Jay,” Amy replied casually, trying to hide her smile.
Trish eyed her curiously and with a smirk, “are you two a couple now?”
“No, we’re just really good friends, Trish. Nothing more.”
“Are you sure?” Trish questioned.
“Yeah, why?” Amy asked, still busy scrunching her long red hair.
“Well, I was kind of thinking about asking him out sometime,” Trish replied with a smile, “I mean, that is if you’re not with him and you don’t mind.”
“Um…” Amy replied, shocked, and not knowing what to say, “is Jay really your kind of guy?”
“I think he could be,” Trish replied, applying some lip gloss on her full lips, “I’m not really into just one kind of guy.”
“Well, I…” Amy stuttered, not sure what to say.
“You do like him,” Trish laughed, interrupting Amy’s stuttering.
Amy laughed weakly and looked at Trish with a small smile, “it obvious?”
“Just the spitting out of 1 syllable words and sentence fragments part,” Trish teased.
Amy smiled over at her friend, “you weren’t going to really try and hook up with Jay, were you?”
“No,” Trish replied, shaking her head, “But I was proving a point, if you want him, go after him. A lot of girls would love to get a chance with him, this is your chance Ames.”
“I know but…” Amy started, only to be interrupted by Trish.
“No buts!” Trish exclaimed, “aren’t you supposed to be the queen of extreme? Fearless, confident?”
“But…” Amy started.
“Amy, you are a strong, independent, confident, beautiful woman who can get any guy she wants!” Trish demanded, “go after Jay! He’d be a fool to not want you!”
“Are you sure?” Amy asked skeptically.
“Do I look sure?” Trish asked, pointing at her face, “I think I’m pretty positive.”
Amy laughed looking at her friend as Trish smiled and wrapped her arms around her.
“You’re a good friend Trish,” Amy said, pulling out of the embrace and looking at herself in the mirror, “Am I good to go?”
Trish looked her over with a small smile and approving nod, “I think it’ll do.”
“Wish me luck,” Amy said, slinging her wrestling bag over her shoulder and grabbing her purse as she walked out the door quickly.
“Baby, you don’t need luck,” Trish mumbled with a small smile, “that boy’s head over heels for you.”

Amy smiled as a stagehand she recognized passed her. She put her bag on the floor as she crossed her arms and leaned against the wall waiting for Jay. She looked at her watch anxiously.
“Amy, are you waiting for someone?” Amy turned to her left to see a man with short brown hair and green eyes walking over towards her.
“Hey Chris,” she said with a smile recognizing one of the WWF’s developmental wrestlers, “I’m just waiting for a friend.”
“A boyfriend?” the brunette asked with a small smile.
“No, just a friend,” Amy replied running a hand through her red curls.
“You were fantastic out there by the way,” Chris complimented, letting his eyes scan over Amy’s body quickly, “I really look up to you. Most men would feel self confident saying that to a woman, but you really are talented Amy.”
“That’s so sweet, thanks,” Amy replied, hitting his shoulder softly, “that’s really flattering.”
“Are you seeing anyone right now?” Chris asked suddenly, almost embarrassed as he looked towards the floor, “because if you’re not, I’d really like to take you out sometime.”
Amy bit her lower lip and looked at Chris as he stuffed his hands into his jeans awkwardly, “I’m not, but I’m kind of interested in someone at the moment. I’m really-“
“Hey, it’s ok,” Chris interrupted with a smile, “I should have known. He’s a very lucky man whoever it is.”
Jason frowned as he stood listening around the corner. She was interested in someone else. Damn, why had he waited so long. He should have listened to Adam and Matt before, they had been right.
“Thanks Chris,” Amy replied, “and thanks for understanding.”
Jason heard Amy and Chris exchange goodbyes before he emerged from the corner. He smiled as he got a chance to get a good look at Amy. She looked as beautiful as usual and as she turned to him, her face lit up in a mesmerizing smile.
“Hey,” Amy said happily, “are you ready to go? I’m starving.”
“Yeah, sure,” Jay replied as Amy and him started to walk down the hallway, “You look fantastic by the way.”
“Thanks Jay, you look pretty good yourself,” she said with a smile looking at him.
“The fans are going to be out there,” Jay said as they neared the exit of the arena.
“They will,” Amy replied with an eager smile, “ya ready?”
“Are you going to be alright?” Jay asked taking off his coat, “you’re gonna freeze out there.”
“Oh, thanks,” Amy said, accepting the leather jacket and slipping it on as Jay picked up her bag and slung it over his own shoulder along with his.
“Jay, you don’t have to,” Amy said, reaching for the bag.
“It’s ok Ames, I want to,” he replied with a reassuring smile, “let’s go.”
Amy smiled as Jay walked ahead of her and opened the arena door. An eruption of screams seemed to be released as he opened that door. Amy smiled as he held the door open for her and she walked out with him side by side. The two waved to the fans quickly as they looked at each other with small smiles.
“My rentals over there,” Jay said, pointing across the parking lot where his rental car was parked next to a gate where a few fans had gathered.
Amy nodded as the two walked towards the car. Jason fumbled for his keys as he quickly unlocked the trunk and threw in their bags as Amy wandered towards the fence where she signed a few things through the paper.
“Lita!” one girl screamed as Amy smiled at her and tried to grab the paper through the fence and sign it.
“Are you with Christian?” one girl asked, wide eyed looking at Jason who was standing a few feet away signing a sheet of paper.
Amy winked at the little girl as she handed the signed paper back to her. She looked over at Jay quickly who nodded and they made their way towards the car, waving goodbye to the fans as they screamed some more.
“That’s always a rush!” Amy cried, shutting the door of the car and laughing.
“I know, the fans are wild!” Jason agreed, starting the car and carefully backing out of his parking spot.
Amy smiled as she looked over at Jay quickly, and sat back in her seat. The smell of Jay surrounded her as she took a small breath and tightened the coat around her.
“Cold?” Jay asked, once they were out of the arena parking lot and cruising down the high way. He quickly leaned over turning the heater up and looked over at Amy with a small smile.
“Thanks,” Amy mumbled, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She watched as Jay turned his attention back to the road and couldn’t help but smile as she watched him.
“I’ve actually never had sushi before,” Jason said with a laugh, looking over at her.
“Huh?” Amy asked embarrassed as she snapped out of her daze and smiled.
“I just said that this will be my first time eating sushi,” Jason said again with a laugh.
“There’s a first time for everything,” Amy replied with a smile.
“So, uh, that guy you were talking to earlier,” Jason said uneasily changing the subject, “he’s one of the developmental guys huh?”
“Who Chris?” Amy asked.
“Yeah, he was walking away as I walked up,” Jay replied.
“He’s a good guy,” Amy answered, “He’s been working really hard.”
“That’s cool,” he nodded, “uh… is he interested in you or anything?”
“I think he might be,” Amy replied looking over at Jay with a grin, “but I’m not interested in him. I’m really not.”
“Are you interested in anyone?” Jay asked softly and embarrassed, looking over at Amy quickly.
“Umm…” Amy answered with a small smile, “You could say that I am. He’s a really, really great guy.”
“I’m sure he is,” Jay mumbled. He looked out the windshield sadly; he had lost his chance with Amy.
Why hadn’t he listened to his friends earlier? Damn, he wanted to kick himself for being such an idiot and not going after Amy when he had the chance. Now he’d never know.
“Here we are,” Jason said softly pulling up in front of the small restaurant and snapping out of his thoughts.
“Great,” Amy said with a bright smile looking over at him. She quickly unbuckled the seatbelt and opened the door as Jay met her on the other side of the car.
“Jay, if I don’t tell you later,” she said with a grin as she wrapped his leather jacket tighter around her, “thanks, I had so much fun.”
“That’s what I’m here for,” Jay replied, “for fun.”
“You’re here for a lot more Jay,” she said, linking her arm with his and smiling up for him.
He smiled as they started to walk towards the restaurant door, maybe he still had a chance.
