Chapter 8
Jay smiled as he walked down the hallway of the arena. He was a little disappointed that he hadn’t been able to see Amy that morning, but the memory of the night before was fresh in his mind. He hummed to himself as he looked at the bouquet of roses he was holding. The dozen red roses with baby breath were a gift to Amy for everything that she had done for him, and he was going to let her know that he really did care about her and wanted to be with her.
“Hey Matt,” Jay called, seeing the elder Hardy walking down the hallway.
“Hey man,” Matt said, slapping Jay’s hand and eyeing the bouquet with a smile, “you brought me flowers? That’s so sweet Jay, but I think we should keep our relationship strictly business.”
“You’re a funny guy Matt,” Jason laughed, shaking his head.
“Those for Amy?” Matt asked with a smile.
“Yeah, you think she’ll like them?” Jay questioned.
Matt gazed at the beautiful red bouquet and nodded approvingly, “she loves red roses.”
“Do you know where she is?” Jay asked.
“We have to re-cut the promo we just did,” Matt replied, “I’ll have her find you when we’re done.”
“Alright, thanks man,” Jason said, as he slapped his hand again and started to walk away.
“Jay, was I right or was I right?” Matt called from behind him.
“Right about what?” Jay asked, turning around and looking at the grinning Hardy.
“Amy told me and Jeff about the kiss,” Matt laughed, “fireworks and all. Congratulations man.”
Jason smiled and nodded his head as he heard an assistant call Matt, telling him they were ready to re-cut the promo. He waved before running off quickly, as Jay readjusted the strap of his athletic bag and cradled the flowers in his arms.
“Fireworks and all,” Jason mumbled to himself with a small laugh before walking down the hallway and finding the locker room he was assigned to.

Jason paced around the empty locker room nervously and excitedly. The butterflies that filled his stomach were greater then before any match he had ever been in. He rubbed his hands together in hopes to get them to stop shaking.
“Just tell her how you feel,” he silently encouraged himself. He looked quickly at the bouquet that was leaning against his bag.
He jumped at the sound of a knock on the door. He knew it was Amy, and it took him a minute to find his voice before calling it was ok for them to enter.
His jaw practically dropped as the door swung open. He studied the woman with the long dark hair cascading down her back and bright green eyes. Her pink lips turned into a small smile as she pushed her hair nervously behind her ear.
“Hi Jay,” she said in her usual whispery voice.
“What are you doing here?” he asked softly, his voice getting lost in his throat.
“Well…” she said, placing her hand in the pockets of her worn denim hip huggers, “I think we needed to talk.”
He shook his head in disbelief. Just when he finally had gotten his life back into order she came back into his life unannounced, like a sudden storm.
He crossed his arms and looked at the beautiful woman whom he had loved more then he ever thought possible and whom hurt him more ways then he could ever imagine.
“Tessa, we don’t have anything to talk about!” Jay finally managed to say, “you left me, we’re over. What could you possibly have to say?”
She toyed with the hem of her blouse as she avoided his eyes, obviously hurt at what he just said. She looked down at her black boots, the tears stinging her eyes.
“Hmmm Tess?” he questioned again, anger filling his voice, “What the hell could you possibly have to say?”
“Jay…” she started, but felt a lump form in her throat as she brought her one hand up to her chest, trying to calm herself.
“Just say it!” Jay urged annoyed, “whatever you have to say just say it!”
“I’m pregnant!” she yelled suddenly, “Jay, I’m pregnant…”
