Epilogue

**5 years later**

“Daddy! Daddy!” the little blonde called, running up the front walk excitedly towards the large white Victorian style home.

“Hey kid,” Jay cried, catching the boy in his arms and brining him up hugging him, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

“See you guys later,” Tessa called out the window of her silver car, “Have fun.”

“Bye Tess,” Jay yelled, placing the 4 year old Chase on the ground and picking up his bag.

“Bye Mommy!” Chase called, waving his hand in the air, a smile on his face.

Tessa beeped as she drove away and turned the corner. Chase grabbed Jay’s hand as the two walked in the front door of the house and were immediately greeted with the sound of delighted squeals from the living room.

“Jenny must have realized you were here,” Amy stated with a smile, walking into the front hallway, a tiny bundle in her arms, “she started squealing as soon as she heard the car pull up. She knew it was her big brother.”

“Can I hold her Amy?” Chase asked hopefully, looking at the baby in Amy’s arms.

“Sure you can sweetie,” Amy replied, “just come into the living room.”

Jay followed Amy and Chase into the large white living room, toys strewed all over, both Jenny’s and Chase’s.

“Make sure you support her head,” Amy reminded Chase as he sat down on the couch and she handed him the 6th month old. The baby immediately quieted as she was placed in his lap, an occurrence both Jay and Amy were used too. Amy laughed as she watched the small arm emerge from the cluster of blankets and tried to touch Chase’s nose, her loud squeals turned into soft coos.

“Ok,” Chase grinned, cradling his half sister lovingly, “Jenny got more hair. She’s blonde like me.”

“She’s got your smile too Chase,” Amy said, smiling at the two on the couch.

Although Chase was Tessa’s and Jay’s child, he was still hers and she loved him as much as any mother could love a child. It didn’t bother her that he called her Amy and not mom. She knew he loved her and that’s what mattered.

“You lost another tooth,” Jay laughed, looking at Chase as he smiled his wide, tooth missing, grin at the two, “did the tooth fairy bring you anything?”

“5 dollars!” Chase announced proudly.

“That’s a lot of money for such a little kid,” Jay teased.

“I’m not little!” Chase argued, “I’m 4 years old! And I’m a big brother!”

“Yes you are,” Amy agreed, kneeling down in front of the couch, taking the sleeping Jenny out of Chase’s lap, “she fell asleep. How about I go put her in your crib and I’ll meet you in the kitchen, I bought some ice cream.”

“Ok,” Chase whispered enthusiastically, nodding his head, “night Jenny.”

Amy smiled as she watched him kiss the babies forehead lightly, then bounced off to the kitchen. Amy looked at Jay as she stood up.

“I’ll come with you,” Jay said softly, following Amy up the stairs towards the nursery.

Amy walked into the pale pink painted nursery. Walking across the nursery quickly and quietly, she placed her baby into the crib and looked over the railing of it as Jenny breathed softly and steadily.

“She looks a lot like you,” Jay whispered, stepping up behind her and placing his hand on her shoulder.

“She’s got your smile,” Amy replied, looking from Jenny to Jay, “just like Chase.”

Jay smiled thoughtfully and nodded as they both stood in front of the crib, watching the sleeping baby. Jason’s hand gently made his way down Amy’s arm and took her hand, squeezing it softly.

“What are you thinking about?” Amy asked, stepping away from the crib and sitting in the light oak rocker in the corner as Jay kneeled in front of her.

“Just that the day you had Jenny, it was one of the happiest of my life,” Jason said, looking from Amy to the crib.

“It was one of the most painful for me,” Amy joked, looking at the crib, “but it was worth it.”

“I have two beautiful and healthy kids,” Jay said softly, thinking out loud, “I’m still wrestling and am doing what I love, and am married to the one woman I love most in the world. I think my life is about perfect.”

“I can think of one thing that could make it better,” Amy teased, leaning closer to Jay and brushing her lips against his.

“What’s that?” Jay whispered, shutting his eyes.

“Some chocolate chip ice cream downstairs,” Amy replied, a small smirk on her lips.

“That would make my life about complete,” he laughed.

“Race you downstairs!” Amy challenged in a soft voice, already on her feet and rushing towards the door.

Jason chased her to the door, but stopped and looked at the crib, his hand still on the doorknob.

“Are you ok?” Amy called from the bottom of the stairway.

“Yeah, I’m coming,” Jay replied, not tearing his gaze from the crib, the only sound in the room belonging to Jenny’s soft, constant breaths.

Flipping the light switch off and closing the door softly behind him, Jay let out a deep breath. His life was about perfect, and complete. He couldn’t have asked for anything more.
