Chapter 1
“Yonni, ready to go?” Matt called from the hallway that led to the door where his new Viper sat.
“Yeah, just a minute!” But that was the furthest thing from her mind. “Did I make a mistake?” She asked herself quietly from where she sat on the bed in the room that belonged to Matt and her.
So long, her family had told her to be with someone who could be there with her all the time. To help her and love her. Well, she was sure Matt loved her, but he wasn’t there for her all the time. Though, that was expected of someone who lived the life of a WWF Superstar.
She thought back, would I have been better off to stay with Mark? He loved me..did he? The way he hit me must have meant he didn’t love her. Or maybe he hit me because he didn’t want me doing something that would hurt me. Was I too insolent to understand words?
She looked down at the scars around her arms...caused by Mark. Matt saved me from that. He doesn’t hit me. He would never. But he doesn’t spend as much time with me as Mark did.
“Mother...” Yonni looked at the picture beside the bed on the table. Her mother. Should I have stayed with Mark and mother?
She thought back, and wasn’t sure of how to answer the question. Little did she know the answer lay right in her first memory of Matt.
(Flashback)
“Where do you want to go tonight, Yon?” Mark asked.
Yonni smiled, her bruises were gone and she could go out again, with Mark. She loved him desperately, but it was her fault. Mark said it was her fault that she bruised so easily. And she believed him.
“Let’s go to a club tonight! I haven’t been to one in weeks and Jessie said she would go with us.”
Mark snarled. “What did I tell you about hanging around with that slut? She is nothing but a penny-whore. Keep away from her.”
Yonni looked at him wide eyed. “But... But she is my friend!”
“Let’s just go, maybe we will see someone there, okay?”
Yonni nodded and followed Mark to the car.
~~~~~~~~
“Carl! Hey lets find a table in the back, we can sit away from all this racket!”
Yonni shuddered, she hated Carl. But it was about to get worse. Almost all of Mark’s friends were there that night, James, Patrick, Tom, Ryan.
“The only one missing is that asshole Ben.” Yonni muttered under her breath.
Mark turned with a huge grin on his face. “Did you say something, sweetie?”
His over-exaggerated ‘lovey-dovey’ voice made her look at him oddly. But his glare made her shake her head and sit down.
“So did you guys see the Dudley Boyz beat the shit out of those crappy Hardly-Boyz?” Ryan asked as everyone went up into laughter.
Yonni sat back watching the interaction wide eyed. She liked the Hardyz but standing up for them would mean nothing short of death for her. She swallowed at the thought.
“AHHH! Oh my god!” A scream from across the room got everyone’s attention.
Yonni stared. ‘Oh no...’ she thought to herself. Well they were in Cameron...but this was not expected.
After the roar had settled down she saw Matt and Jeff Hardy sit down at a table where a teenage waitress served them.
“Hmmm...” Carl looked up. “Well maybe we should go introduce ourselves...huh??” Ryan, James, Mark, Patrick and Tom all nodded.
“And you little lady,” Mark said grabbing her arm and towing her up with all the others. “I am not going to leave you here unsupervised. You can come with us!”
Yonni sighed, this would turn out really embarrassing for either Matt and Jeff, or the guys she was with. But either way, she was getting pulled around like she was someone’s property. Mark’s to be exact, holding her at a weird angle so she had to bend her knees to stop the pain in her arm.
“Hey...well, well, well...” Carl looked around at us and said, “I think these are those ruff-neck losers the Hardly Boyz...”
“Well,” James started. “I’ll be damned if it is!”
Matt and Jeff didn’t look amused and they hadn’t looked that happy when they first came in here.
“So,” Tom asked no one in particular. “Do you think these losers know what knifes taste like?”
Yonni whimpered slightly as Mark’s hold on her arm tightened.
Matt and Jeff both focused their attention on her.
“I think you are hurting the lady.” Matt’s voice displayed anger.
Mark grinned. “I think so too.” He twisted her arm around making Yonni kneel on the ground in front of Jeff.
“So you lost to the Dudleyz again, huh? They are the best tag-team ever. They keep it interesting!” Mark snarled.
“I think you watch them too much. You hurting women too. Uncalled for.” Jeff said staring at Yonni kneeling in front of him, pain evident on her face.
Mark frowned and tossed her at him. He caught her and Yon immediately grabbed her arm.
“Did I say you could touch my woman?” Mark grabbed Jeff’s arm, and Matt stood up.
“STOP!” Yon screamed. “Stop it! Mark, let’s just go back to the table and...”
“Shut up!” James whacked her upside the head.
Mark let go of Jeff’s who kept a cool look on his face at all times. “Don’t touch her.” But his comment was directed at James.
“Come on guys, these losers aren’t worth it!” Mark grabbed her arm and Matt gave her a look of condolence.
~~~~~~~~
“I saw up Stacey’s skirt! She’s got long legs man!”
They were more drunk than Yon had seen them in a long time.
“Mark, I am going to go look around, okay?” He didn’t even seem to notice, and she immediately went over to where Matt and Jeff
were still sitting. They saw her coming and smiled warm, welcoming smiles.
“Uh...Listen. I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry. They are out of control freaks, and well, I’m sorry for their behavior.” She looked at Matt who raised an eyebrow.
“One of those guys your boyfriend?” He asked. Jeff snapped his head to face his brother, shock on his face.
“Uh, yeah actually. Mark...”
“Oh yeah. That the one who grabbed my brother? Big mistake on his part.”
Yon was beginning to regret coming over.
“Did he hurt you?”
She smiled, the first smile she had wore since they had stepped foot in that club/bar. Matt and Jeff seemed to notice as well, for they beamed.
“I’ve been hurt worse.” This didn’t seem to quake their worries at all.
“Well, you didn’t have anything to do with his behavior so...well, they don’t look like the best company in the world.” They all turned to see them starting to sing the Oscar Meyer song.
“Oh Lord...” They all started to laugh and Matt kept his eyes on her the whole time.
Mark looked over and his face went from grin to frown in 0.08 Mile-seconds.
“Uh-oh...Well, I’m sorry again, but I had better go in the car now, it might save me something...” She looked toward Mark and his buddies as they grabbed their things and got ready to go, Mark still staring at Matt, Jeff and herself.
“Uh..anyway...as I was saying if it makes you feel any better, both of you are the hottest guys in the WWF and my fave tag team, don’t tell Mark I said that. He’d kill me. You have no idea how much he hates you guys. But, maybe I will see you around and don’t worry, I’ll always be watching.”
“Why don’t we go to lunch?”
The guys were getting closer and she didn’t have a lot of time. “I couldn’t...”
Matt took out a piece of paper and wrote something down on it. “Be there.” He slid it across the table and Yon picked it up unnoticed.
“My name is Yonni...” She whispered just as Mark and his friends approached.
She smiled warily, as Mark grabbed her arm and left the building.
“What did you say to him!” Mark asked, putting her in the car.
“Oh Mark. I just told them how much they suck! What losers, huh?” Yon nearly bit her tongue.
He smiled, “Well, you drive. I don’t want to kill the prettiest thing in the world.”
That is what it was. Things like that was what made her stay with him.
“Okay, I’ll drop you off at your house and get my car and head home, okay?”
“Well you could do that...” He said running his hand up her leg. “Or you could stay over at my house.”
“I’d love to, but I have to go out tomorrow for Christmas shopping, and you.....can’t come!”
He smiled and nestled down beside her.
Yes, it was things like that, that made her stay.
