Chapter 19
p> “Here we are,” Jamie said pulling into Jeff’s driveway and breaking the silence they had been in since they had left the country club. The sun was now starting to go down as afternoon turned into night.
“Thanks,” Jeff said, unbuckling his seatbelt quickly.
“No problem,” Jamie replied softly with a small smile.
“You want to come in?” Jeff asked taking her hand, surprised at how cold it was.
“Sure,” Jamie shrugged, opening her door and taking Jeff’s hand as she got on his side of the car and followed him into the house.

“You want anything?” Jeff asked as Jamie followed him into the kitchen.
“That’s alright,” she said, “I’m good. Are you alright Jeff?”
“Fine,” Jeff said coolly, looking at Jamie, “why?”
“You’ve been really quiet since we left the country club,” Jamie said.
“I’m fine, really,” Jeff insisted, sitting down at the kitchen table.
“I thought I was a bad liar,” Jamie laughed, walking up behind Jeff and starting to massage his shoulders, “you want to tell me what’s really wrong?”
Jeff didn’t reply as he shut his eyes and let out a small moan as Jamie’s hands worked on his shoulders.
“Does that feel good?” Jamie asked with a small grin.
“You have no idea,” Jeff answered, pure relaxation written on his face.
“Then tell me what’s wrong,” Jamie demanded as she stopped massaging his shoulders and placed her hands on her hips.
“That’s just mean,” Jeff said, standing up and looking at Jamie, then took her hands, “If I ask you something, will you promise you won’t get mad?”
“Ok,” Jamie answered, looking into Jeff’s eyes, “what is it?”
“Is there, or was there ever anything going on between you and Scott?” Jeff asked.
“Me and Scott?” Jamie said, not able to control the laughter as Jeff looked at her strangely.
“I’m serious Jamie!” Jeff replied, watching as Jamie took a few deep breaths to control her laughter.
“Jeff… Scott’s gay,” Jamie said, able to control her laughter to get the words out.
“He’s what?” Jeff asked, surprise filling his voice.
“He’s gay Jeff!” Jamie repeated, tears spilling down her cheeks from laughing, “is that what this is all about? Scott?”
Jeff shook his head no, and turned away from Jamie, sitting back in his chair in embarrassment.
“Was it something my dad said?” Jamie asked, her warm breath on the back of Jeff’s neck as she wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her chin on his shoulder.
“Maybe it’ll be better if we don’t talk about it,” Jeff mumbled.
“I think we need to,” Jamie demanded, sitting in a chair across from Jeff, “if it’s upsetting you this much, something’s wrong!”
“Does your dad know Scott’s gay?” Jeff asked, looking intently across the table at Jamie.
“No,” Jamie said, arching an eyebrow, “His parent’s don’t even know. Only a few people do. Why are you harping on this Jeff?”
“It just seems like your dad has high hopes of you ending up with Scott, or a guy more like Scott…” Jeff said, letting his voice trail off.
“My dad is such an ass,” Jamie mumbled leaning back into her chair, “is that what he said?”
“He made it pretty clear that he doesn’t want to see you with me,” Jeff replied.
“Jeff,” Jamie said, standing up and walking over to her boyfriend, “My dad tries to control my life, he seriously thinks he can. But I make my own decisions, and I want to be with you. No one else. Not someone like Scott, not someone else like you, just you Jeff.”
Jamie took a deep breath, “I love you…”
Jeff looked up surprised at Jamie, his mouth fairly open. Not saying anything, not sure if he even heard her right. Jamie bit her lower lip; she had finally said it. She wrung her hands together and looked at Jeff, waiting for a reply.
Jeff stood up and faced Jamie, taking her hands and looking deeply into her eyes, causing Jamie to momentarily lose her breath as the intensity between the two increased.
“I love you too Jamie,” Jeff said softly, as he wrapped his arms around Jamie’s waist and pulled her close into a hug.
Jamie inhaled deeply as she buried her face in Jeff’s neck. Relieved she had finally said it; and gotten the response she had longed for. She let go of Jeff, and stepped back, looking at him with a smile.
“I’m really sorry about my dad Jeff,” Jamie apologized again, “but like I said, he’s not going to change my mind.”
Jeff grinned at her, “I know. Look at Matt. He was so against it, and now he’s ok with it.”
“He is?” Jamie asked surprised, “when did that happen?”
“I forgot to tell you?” Jeff asked with a small laugh, “the one night, on the road, he told me that he would try to accept our relationship and try to get to know you better.”
“Oh,” Jamie said, a smile on her lips, “Well, that’s great. We got one person who didn’t think we could have a relationship accept it, maybe my dad will come around too.”
“Maybe,” Jeff said hopefully.
“I hate these boots!” Jamie said suddenly, tugging the black, leather, heeled boots she was wearing off her feet and tossing them softly across the kitchen, “they’re so uncomfortable!”
“That’s what I don’t get about woman,” Jeff said with a laugh, “It can be the most uncomfortable thing ever, but as long as it looks cute, you’ll wear it.”
Jamie shrugged with a grin, sitting in the chair she had occupied a few minutes earlier. She couldn’t suppress a yawn that escaped her lips, as she looked at her watch. It was only 6pm.
“Tired already?” Jeff asked with a laugh.
“All the traveling, and jet lag,” Jamie replied, waving her hand carelessly in the air.
“Come on,” Jeff said, taking her hand as she stood up, “we’ll go upstairs so you can lie down, and we’ll watch a movie or something.”
Jamie followed Jeff through the living room, and couldn’t help but laugh at all the artificial plants and decorations. She shook her head as she followed him up the stairs towards the second floor.
“Nice jungle down there,” Jamie said as they walked into Jeff’s bedroom.
“I get complimented on it a lot,” Jeff joked, “so you wanna watch a movie?”
“Sure,” Jamie replied, unbuttoning her red blouse as Jeff walked over to his collection of DVD’s. Jamie slipped the red blouse off, tossing it on the floor, and climbed onto Jeff’s bed and under the covers, laying her head on one of the pillows.
“Have you seen Fast and the Furious yet?” Jeff asked, holding up the box and turning around. He smiled at seeing Jamie lying comfortably in his bed. The leopard printed comforter wrapped around her.
“Haven’t seen it,” Jamie replied sleepily.
Jeff quickly popped the movie into the DVD player and climbed into the bed next to Jamie; wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.
Jeff let his hands move up and down her bare arm as they lie in silence watching the movie, Jamie falling in and out of sleep.
Jeff laughed as he heard Jamie yawn again and look up at him with sleepy eyes. He let his fingertip trace along her lips, then wander down her neck, sending chills throughout her body.
She reached up and placed her lips softly against his. Jeff pulled her closer with one, easy motion so their bodies were pressed tightly against each other. His lips wandered down to her neck, the place he knew was her “spot”, and smiled as he heard a small sigh escape her lips. Jeff laughed as he felt Jamie’s hands fumbling at his shirt.
“I thought you said you were tired,” Jeff said, in-between placing gentle kisses on her neck.
“I guess I was wrong,” she giggled, letting her back hit the mattress completely and her head lie on the pillow as she looked up at Jeff.
“I love you,” he whispered, pushing back a strand of her hair behind her ear, “And no matter what, this relationship is always worth fighting for.”
“Yeah,” she agreed in a whisper, “it is worth it. I love you.”
