Chapter 4

The phone rang as Jamie finished applying her makeup. She quickly picked up the phone as she added a little more blush.

“Hello?” she asked, looking at the clock. She was late… she was always running late.

“Hi, is this Jamie?” She heard the male voice ask.

“Yes, it is,” she said as she slipped on her high heels quickly, tripping over herself.

“Hey, it’s Jeff,” the man said.

Jamie stopped in her tracks, “Jeff… hey, how are you?”

“I’m pretty good,” he said, “how about you?”

“not bad, I wasn’t expecting you to call so soon,” she said as she sat on the edge of her bed.

“Oh… is this a bad time?” Jeff asked, “Cause I can let you go…”

“No… no Jeff it’s fine,” Jamie said interrupting, “I’m actually glad you called. I had a lot of fun last night.”

“Me too,” Jeff replied, “that’s why I was calling actually.”

“Oh?” Jamie asked, as she stood up and looked at herself in the mirror, she bit her lower lip as she waited for Jeff to say something.

“I have to catch a flight tomorrow to head out for some shows,” Jeff explained, “and I was wondering if, maybe, I could see you before I left?”

“Sure… that’d be… sure…,” Jamie said happily into the phone, “do you want to come over tonight?”

“Sure,” Jeff said, “that’d be great.”

Jamie let out a tiny sigh at the thought of seeing Jeff again, “Do you remember how to get here?” she asked.

“Yeah,” Jeff answered, “What time do you want me over around?”

“Is 7ish ok with you?” Jamie asked, twisting a strand of her hair around her finger.

“7 would be great,” Jeff said. Jamie could hear the happiness in his voice.

“Great, then I’ll see you later?” Jamie asked as she smiled at herself.

“Yeah,” Jeff said, not hiding the excitement in his voice, “I can’t wait to see you again Jamie.”

Jamie felt her cheeks go red as she smiled embarrassed, “I can’t wait to see you either Jeff,” Jamie finally managed to say, “I’ll talk to you later? Ok?”

“Yup,” Jeff answered, “Later.”

Jamie smiled as she hung up the phone, she looked into the mirror. Her smile was huge, she was actually beaming.

“Oh shit,” Jamie mumbled as she was snapped back into reality as she looked at the clock on her wall, “I’m gonna be so late.”

She quickly grabbed her purse and car keys as she ran out of her room, down the stairs, and out of her house.

“Jamie, where you been?” Jamie’s boss asked as Jamie literally flew through the doors of the office she worked at.

“I am so sorry I’m late,” Jamie panted as she quickly caught her breath, “I was out late last night, then I got a call this morning… I’m really sorry.”

“It’s alright,” her boss said with a smile, “no harm done.”

“Thanks,” Jamie said with a grin.

“Where’d you go last night?” her boss asked as the 2 started to walk down the hall of the advertising agency.

“I was at a party, then a bar,” Jamie explained. Not sure if she should be talking personal life with her boss, but figured there wouldn’t be any harm in it. Her boss was a nice lady a few years older then her, and Jamie felt comfortable talking to her.

“Did you meet up with anyone?” her boss asked as they reached the end of the hall where their 2 offices were.

“I actually met this guy this morning,” Jamie said, not able to hold back a smile, “that’s who called this morning.”

Her boss smiled back, “that’s nice sweetie. What’s his name?”

“Jeff Hardy,” Jamie said. She watched the smile fade off her boss’ face.

“Jeff Hardy?” her boss asked, “not the Jeff Hardy that’s a wrestler in the WWF?”

“Actually, that’s the one,” Jamie said, studying her boss’ face, “I didn’t know you watched wrestling Ms. Kurry.”

“I don’t,” her boss answered, “but everyone from North Carolina know who Matt and Jeff are. They’re heroes to this state. I just can’t believe you went out with him.”

“Well,” Jamie said shrugging her shoulders, “he seems like a typical, down to earth nice guy.”

“Yeah,” Ms. Kurry said pushing a strand of her brown curly hair out of her face, “He just doesn’t seem like your type…”

“My type?” Jamie asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Don’t get me wrong Jamie, you seem like a sweet girl, but that’s just it. I thought Jeff Hardy would be more into wild girls,” Ms. Kurry said with a laugh, “I guess I was wrong.”

“I guess you were,” Jamie said dryly, avoiding her boss’ eyes, “I have a lot of work to do before the 4 o’clock meeting.”

“Of course,” Ms. Kurry said, “If you see Jeff again see if you can get an autograph for my nephew.”

“Sure,” Jamie said managing a weak smile, “I’ll try and remember.”

Jamie watched Ms. Kurry walk into her office and close the door before Jamie did the same. With a groan Jamie flopped into her computer chair and closed her eyes. She had only been at work for 15 minutes and already her good mood was gone. She opened her eyes and looked at the clock, only 10 hours until she got to see Jeff.

She sighed, it was going to be the longest 10 hours of her life.
