Constance Towers debuted as Helena Cassadine in 1997. She took over the role made most famous by Elizabeth Taylor and found it to be wonderfully different than any character she's ever played before. "I have always played the "good-one" on soaps" says Connie. "Especially on Capitol where I played Clarissa McCandless" for 6 years". Helena gives Constance a chance to show her elegant yet evil side and challenges her to find a bit of empathy for her character. "I think she loves her grandson Nikolas very much" Connie has said "and through that love she will do anything to help him further his position within the Cassadine Family". Connie loves her days on General Hospital and has been very close to co-star Nancy Lee Grahn. "Alexis and Helena have an interesting relationship to say the least"! Connie comments "Nancy and I have often wanted the writers to come to an understanding between the two." Constance's Helena Cassadine is one of the most popular character on GH and she receives mountains of fanmail to the studio.
