1.) Oct. 1, 1997 - Pearl, Miss., a 16 year old boy kills his mother, two schoolmates and wounds 7 others.
2.) Dec. 1, 1997 - West Paducah, KY, 14 year old boy kills 3 schoolmates and wounds 5 others.
3.) March 24, 1998 - Jonesboro, AK, two boys, 11 and 14 kill 4 schoolmates and a teacher and wounded 10 others.
4.) April 24, 1998 - Edinboro, PA, a 14 year old kills a science teacher at a dance.
5.) May 19, 1998 - Fayetteville, TN, an 18 year old is charged with open firing in a school parking lot, killing a student who was dating his ex-girlfriend.
6.) May 21, 1998 - Springfield, OR, a 15 year old boy is charged with firing at school, killing 2 and injuring more than 20.
7.) Jan. 4, 1999 - Salt Lake City, Di-Kieu Duy, 24, kills 1.
8.) March 18, 1999 - Johnson City, Tenn., Walter V. Shell, 71, kills his lawyer and a client after losing $100,000 in wife's will.
9.) April 15, 1999 - Salt Lake City, Sergei Babarin, 71, walks into a the Mormon Family History Library killing 2 and wounding 4 others before police shoot and kill him.
10.) April 16, 1999 - Notus, OH, a high school sophomore fires two shots down a hallway, no one was hurt.
11.) April 20, 1999 - Littleton, CO, two students, 17 and 18 execute 12 students, 1 teacher then kill themselves.
12.) May 20, 1999 - Conyers, GA, T.J. Solomon, 15, shoots 6 students before the beginning of class, no one was killed.
13.) June 3, 1999 - Las Vegas, Zane Floyd, 23 kills four in gorcery store.
14.) June 11, 1999 - Southfield, Mich., Joseph Brooks Jr., 27, kills 2 and wounds 4 others before killing himself
15.) July 12, 1999 - Atlanta, Ga, Cyrona Marks kills 6 members of his girlfriend's family including 4 children before killing himself.
16.) July 29, 1999 - Atlanta, Ga., Mark O. Barton, 44, kills his wife and two children before killing 9 others and wounding one other at an office building before killing himself.
17.) August 5, 1999 - Pelham, Alabama, Alan Eurgene Miller, 34, kills two employees at his job and one other at his old one.
18.) August 10, 1999 - Granada Hills, LA, a man walks into the North Valley Jewish Community Center wounding 4 children ages 5, 6, 8, 16 and a teachers aid, 68 and possibly wounds another in a carjacking shortly after the shooting.
19.) September 15, 1999 - Fort Worth, TX, Larry Ashbrook, 47, kills 7 church members at Wedgewood Baptist before turning the gun on himself. When is it going to end??
Each year there are hundreds of reports of violence in the nation alone. When I started this memorial is was to stop the violence in schools. But as the year comes to an end, I find that I need to open my page to not only school violence, but to offices, churches, and homes. Many of us want to help but don't know where to begin. Together lets work to get crimes out of the schools and out of our neighborhoods.
This site is dedicated to those who have lost friends, family members, or loved ones or to those who have been lost by these senseless acts. We grieve your loss and are as angry as you are.
